| Counterbalancing a pony, good or bad idea?? Hi all, Been diving with a pony (15+3) for a while now and tried to persevere in the hope I would get used to it but still feel a bit unbalanced. Ive been thinking about counterbalancing my pony with a small (say 2kg?) weight on the opposite side to the pony attached to my cam band. Obviously there are a lot of pony people about so is this a good idea? Is there a better way of becoming more balanced. i don't want to front sling as I already have enough clutter in front of me with my torch, camera etc... Any ideas or suggestions ????? |

| Counterbalnce My bcd has back pockets-Scubapro Glide 2000. I place a 1kg weight in there, and all is fine. |

| Swap it for an Ali cylinder.... problem solved

| If I spend any more money on shiny stuff the wife will string me up. There is only so much stuff I can hide in the garage anyway.... |

| I used to dive with a 15 and a 3lt steel pony, and I would put the lead (2kg) on the weight belt closest to the left side of the 15 and that balanced it off. Ideally twins are a more stable redundancy option but without spending money, use the 2kg on the weight belt or in a bcd pocket (if you have one) as the weight needs to be away from the cylinder to counter the pony pulling you off to the right side.

| When I had a pony I used to wear an extra kg on one side of my weightbelt, then cambanded 1kg on the other side of my tank, then bought a heavier torch, then got a twinset. Just 1 kg should make a difference, W

| I have a 2kg weight on a webbing strap which fits around the cylinder which I use to swap between fresh and seawater. If I'm carrying a pony, slide it round to the side opposite the pony, without a pony, simply centre the weight. |

| Just thought, try and keep the pony as close to your back as possible, keep the clamp pointed towrds the otherside of the cyliner and that will stop alot of the off setting too, otherwis ethe tank sticks out and causes you to slightly tilt.
