| I agree with Brian G in that everyone is different, and a lot depends on what you want / need from them. Only thing I would add is that when I first went to my LDS to buy tanks, I actually wanted twin 10's. I was talked out of it and in the end walked away with a single 15. The suggestion being that twin 10's may have been a little advanced for me. 3 months later, I brought twin 12's anyway, and have only ever used the 15 when DMing since. With hindsight, I wish I had of stuck to my original decision, I understand that the guys at the LDS acted with the best intentions, but they really didn't know the direction that my diving would be going in. If you are unsure of what you need now, can you borrow / hire a tank untill you have a better idea of the type of diving you will do ? ATB, John

| I started with a dumpy 12 (cos it was on offer), but now I wish I'd paid extra for the regular 12. I later got a pony for bailout (and now I've done my advanced nitrox the pony is also used for deco). I've also added a 15l for deeper stuff. One advantage of the dumpy and 15 though is they're about the same diameter so I don't have to adjust my BC's cam band.

| If I was starting out now i would go stright for a 7s or 10s set with a nice back plate as it gives you a nice balanced dive and independence . I am now diving on side-mounts 7s only this works really well for me with the type of diving that I do . If anyone is thinking of buying a Twin set I have a Faber Twin 7 232 bar set for sale with bands boot and isolating manifold excellent condition in test till July 05 bottles made in 2003 ready to dive £250 Fiona. |

| Thansk for all the replies. I think my conclusions are. Redundancy is a must Rent before buying if possible until I am confident in my choice. Consider getting a Pony set up near term, as it provides the redundancy, I can reuse the components and I can use it on my travels if reuired. Thanks for all the input guys Conor

| All of the items you have mentioned are about as heavy or heavier than your single rig? Twin 300bar 7s will be about as heavy as the twin 10s I would have thaught? How about going for twin 10s in Fabor light weight. It will avoid all the trouble of 300bar fills. ATB Mark Chase
