    The great North frog march

Thought I'd let the YD massive in on an event being put together by Bolton Area Divers, I'm new so I hope I haven't stepped on any toes.

It sounds like it'll be a fun day with a great cause so please join us.

The Great North Frog March - Sunday 9th May 2010
    Leverhulme Park Athletics Stadium.
We had hoped to have another open day this year but with the increased use of the car park, van sales, a private hire company and the general untidiness we needed something different.
The Great North Frog March has a number of objectives, not least to be a bit of fun but also to be more inclusive than just us scuba divers. We want to open it up to other organisations, pubs, clubs and businesses to stimulate new interest in scuba diving and the club.
We hope to have a marquee which will host trade exhibitors, other diving associations and of course B.A.D. Limited, that will be the open day, much as we had on site last year. The day will revolve round a 2000m sideways or backwards walk in open heel scuba fins round the Leverhulme Park athletics track.
Teams will be five, four participants and a reserve, the idea is to be the first team to get four members across the line together and first. Our aim is to achieve 100 teams taking part; our nominated charities will be RNLI, McMillan Nurses and the Bolton Lads & Girls Club. Teams will be able to support our charities through Justgiving, do their own thing or just take part for fun if charity is not their thing.
Mares are providing the fins (Wahoo 2 fins), which are yours to keep, entrance per team is £50, applications forms and rules will be published soon. On the day we will have the Tadpole Trot for kids, the Fin Wang which is likened to wellie throwing and a Triple Hop Hop Jump in fins in the sand pit.

We are trying to arrange a refreshment tent (beer for Matt), food and other entertainment on the day, bouncy castles, sumo wrestlers or whatever will be fun and we can get hold of. There will be dedicated TGNFM website and in the meantime we have set up a group on Face book, for updates and ideas.
Please join the group leave your thoughts, suggestions and comments. You don’t have to be a competitor to take part but we will need your support.

    Thanks,
