Exclamation Chris Hall - Art Auction for Motor Neuron Disease

Hi All,
I've been asked (and willingly do so) to promote this good cause in support of fellow YD'er, Chris Hall.
As some of you will know, Chris was struck down by MND in the last 12 months or so and can now longer dive as a result - he lacks the ability and body movement to co-ordinate his actions above the surface, so underwater would be dangerous, to say the least.

What is MND?

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks the upper and lower motor neurones.
Degeneration of the motor neurones leads to weakness and wasting of muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing.

www.mndassociation.org

Chris was, until this debilitating disease grabbed a hold of him, active all his life: born in the far flung reaches of Empire, spent years in the RAF (where he learnt to dive), became an active BSAC, PADI, TDI and CMAS (amongst other agencies) diving instructor and friend to many on these boards. Always eager to chip in with solid advice and help out on courses for other instructors - an all round good egg and well loved guy (especiall by his new wife - Liz, also a resident YD'er and instructor).

Any way, we'll be looking to organise 'dive-ins' in the coming year (everyone who dives puts a quid in the hat) with the proceeds going to The Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA), including one to commemorate the calendar date of Chris's last ever dive (as he can no longer dive).

I know some of you have very kindly offered both your time and professional capabilities (ScubaRGN2 - as was, now DiveBuddy2 on YD) to help both Chris and efforts like this to succeed - I would ask others only that you please support these events when you see them posted on the boards - and perhaps donate on the above website.

Here's the details of the Art Auction in aid of MNDA:

Wednesday 08th Feb 2006

Lupton Square Gallery, Westgate, Honely
TEL: 01484 - 666144

Viewing from 6.30 pm
Auction begins 7.30 pm

Thanks in advance for any support you guys can give!!
