Just wanted to say Hi to all the folks I met at the NEC, in the bar and at the stands.

It was good to meet you all and put faces to the user names.

And to the ones who were there, not staffing a stand, and not at the bar at 1pm - Where where you? I travelled from the ends of the earth just to say hello (well from N. Ireland actually) and you weren't there!

Hi ya, yes good to see a fair old YD-ers at the bar. Put new faces to old names and also new faces to some new names as well as meeting up with some old friends again.

The Wooky Hole talk was great, really enjoyed that and also enjoyed scamming Analox

Strange to see one of my next door neighbours at the show, only to find out that his brother is "Paramedic Paul"!!!!!!!

Didn't spend "too" much but a good day, finished off with Steve (Dry Suit Diver) coming back up to Leeds and getting rather drunk at my house last night!!!!

Ardhill - just keep talking to me!!!!!!

K XX

PS I've fallen in love with custom diver wings!

Your not the only one I was so excited by Innes McCartney's U boats and then Wookey Hole etc diving by Rick, followed by Peter Scoones that I forgot the meet up spot and almost failed to splash out some cash on a replacement torch. Ended up going for the UK C8 eLED - works better than expected so I'm happy.

By the way - two of us were wearing our "Freshwaterdiver" emblazoned Tee shirts and not one drunken bud said hi !!?? Just how long did you all prop up the bar for??

At least Rick Stainton spotted us and said - "great site".

Talking

soon as we got through the door it was to track down Kathy n Gary on the diving daisy stand. Then most of the morning was spent oggling rebreathers and kent tooling ratchet reels.
Attended Jack Ingle's talk on Repulse in the south china seas and Innes's talk on U Boats which were both absolutely fascinating and well worth going to.
Attempted to meet up with madfish around 1330 who then phones to say she's still at home having slept in....located Principia (jason off scapa virgins trip) resisting the urge to spend money and then half a dozen familiar faces whose names escape me.

Thoroughly enjoyable day, surprised how few people were there - every other dive show i've been to has been packed with most stands 3 deep in people trying to get served but it was rather quiet on sunday.
The key result being to organise a trip of ice diving to russia next year.....

There was a lot more "free" space than I recall from previous years...plus the corridors seemed wider....so it felt like there were less people. I am sure the organisers will publish the figures and proclaim it a great success

I heard about 14.5k over the weekend, I would guess 2/3rds were on sunday.

To be fair Sunday was better than Saturday! Apparently there was an accident on the M6/42 interchange and people were finding it hard to get near the NEC.

'twas a shame cos early Saturday morning, the sales started earlier and more briskly than usual - looked like being a good day - by lunch time the only thing selling was tumble-weed

I'd like to apologise to the customer I asked if he'd be willing to sell his grandma to buy more kit... only to find out she had died less than a week before!

Dunno what time the smash was, but it was clearish at noon. Saturday was very quiet, it wasn't six deep at most stalls.
