I'd like it to be diver related, but more of a cinderella case.

One where even small amounts may make a difference.

No idea who though, but thought that's who should benifit.

T.
RNLI may not be poor, but income is dropping... However I know what you mean Terry. There is always the option of supporting one of the independant rescue boats.

Then there is the DDRC or similar charity (are all chambers charities?).

Forgot about the Shark Trust - good one.

What is the DDRC?

I'd agree with Shark Trust, and add the MCS.
Marine Conservation Society
The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) is the UK charity dedicated to the protection of our seas, shores and wildlife. MCS campaigns for clean seas and beaches, sustainable fisheries, protection of marine life and their habitats, and the sensitive use of our marine resources for future generations. Through education, community involvement and collaboration, MCS raises awareness of the many threats that face our seas and promotes individual, industry and government action to ensure our seas are fit for life.

Here are some other suggestions..

Cetacean Research and Rescue Unit
Formed in 1997, the Cetacean Research & Rescue Unit (CRRU) is a small, non-profit research organisation based in NE Scotland. Located in the beautiful heritage fishing village of Gardenstown, near Banff, on the southern coastline of the outer Moray Firth, the group is dedicated to the conservation and protection of whales, dolphins and porpoises in Scottish waters through scientific investigation, environmental education, and the provision of professional, veterinary assistance to sick, stranded and injured individuals.

Environmental Investigation Agency
EIA is a campaigning organisation that investigates and exposes international environmental crime. Its undercover investigators work all over the globe, capturing unique audiovisual evidence and using it to alert the international media and mobilise political will for the protection of wildlife and the environment. EIA’s work takes place in 3 core areas; Species in peril; Forests for the world and Global environment.

Whale And Dolphin Conservation Society
WDCS, the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society is the global voice for the protection of whales, dolphins and their environment. WDCS works to prevent the suffering of whales and dolphins (cetaceans) in captivity, to stop their deliberate killing and to end tragic deaths from pollution or entanglement in fishing nets. Get active with WDCS and make that difference. You can help in so many ways. Adopt a dolphin, follow the WDCS boat users code of conduct when around cetaceans, make a donation or report your cetacean sightings online!

or the Wildlife Trusts?

If it's not just open to diving related charities I would like to nominate the NSPCC.

Can't see why it should be limited to diving related, although you might get more agreement on those.

Personally RNLI & NSPCC would be my vote, in that order.

I don't know how much we would raise but something that we could put our name against rather than just an anonomous donation, something that could have "Donated by Yorkshire Divers" attached to it ???

In the eventual poll, it would be good if people could vote for multiple options - there are several suggested so far that I'd like to support!
