Well as we are looking for specifics and the RNLI gets the lions share,
how about one of these Independent Lifeboats UK

Which one would be most diving-related of those? Gosport perhaps?

That's the sort of thing I would like. Perhaps a Blue Peter style "appeal-o-meter" with levels meaning something, so as you say £1000 means supporting a crew member, £5000 means buying x sets of kit...

Of course it doesn't have to be RNLI based, but it does help to put a use tot he cash where possible and to drive to targets.

DDRC or "National Air Ambulance Fund"

Would agree with this - I am doing a big bash for Macmillan and the lady from Macmillan said that the RNLI spend "sh*t loads" of money on their merchandise - she sounded VERY jealous.

DDRC seems a good idea - they did a talk at our club last year for the price of their travelling expenses - very worthwhile.

Perhaps we could lump all the money together and then equally distribute to each Air Ambulance to cover the UK ensuring that no one area gets all the money as this is a national site - just an idea!.

Ross.

Well thought you could split it between one in the South and another
in the North.

So maybe Gosport & Tynemouth or something.

This year I will supporting Liz Hall on her Pink coffin Trek

Pink Coffin Trek to Everest Base Camp

My sister marcia is also one of th trekkers.

I would invite any YDers to continue to support and remember Chris in this way.

Other charities I would like to see YD supporting are the Shark Trust and the scubatrust.

I don't know where people have the view that the RNLI don't need our money. The world has changed and the romance of the sea has gone. The dramatic rescues of striken vessels which many still associate with the RNLI are long gone....instead many more mundane rescues of idiots in inflatables and ill prepared yachties as well as being of great benefit to us.

As a consequence of the "romance " disappearing, I understand the days of people bequething their houses to the RNLI are largely gone and the stock market crash means their investments are not all they once were....so please don't overlook them because you think they are rich!!

I really like the idea of something specific like training a crewman of fitting out a crewman or something like that.

I vote for RNLI, Shark trust and the Scubatrust but it would be nice to continue the link with the MND too.
