Peter, it could be quite a lot especially if we do a winter gig. I know to lots of charities every penny helps but I would be in favour supporting a max of 2 UK, I say UK because we have more than enough charities here in the UK without going overseas.

Blimey Fiona, I only get called Peter when I'm being told off! I didn't think for a minute we'd be supporting ALL of the charities mentioned...

Lots and lots of good ideas but my vote would be to go for something with a target like the RNLI "kit a crewman"
but this is the list so far I think

1. RNLI
2. Scuba Trust
3. DDRC
4. Cancer Research
5. Cornwall Air Ambulance
6. Surfers Against Sewage
7. Shark Trust
8. Marine Conservation Society
9. Cetacean Research and Rescue Unit
10. Environmental Investigation Agency
11. Whale & Dolphin Conservation Society
12. NSPCC
13 The Association Of Children’s Hospices
14. Sea Palling Volunteer Rescue Service
15. Independent Lifeboats UK
16. Pink Coffin Trek to Everest Base Camp
17. RoadrunnerMatt
18. British Divers Marine Life Rescue
19. Greenpeace
Ok chaps and chapettes, I'll let this run until Friday and then put the poll together (might need a gentle reminder if I forget).

Cheers

Exclamation

May I suggest another.

"The Wooden Spoon is rugby's charity supporting mentally, physically and socially disadvantaged children and young people. Spoon has committed to over £11 million in spending for projects for children and young people. It has organised over 1,500 events and had 20,000 ties worn by its loyal members and supporters. Hardworking staff and volunteers have achieved all of this since the birth of the charity."

Supported Charity for 2007

I would recommend the Scuba Trust as supported charity for 2007. They need all the support they can get and really do a tremendous job for disabled people, enabling them to learn to scuba dive and put the diving into real practice. They even encourage further qualifications in scuba diving for those who are capable. Without the trust there would be a lot of disabled people unable to achieve a dream and I believe they are a truly worthy cause. Able bodied people are able to achieve most things through their own ability but disabled people often need the assistance of others. The Scuba Trust fulfil this role admirably.

I am a supporter of many diffent charities but I believe it is sometimes a really good thing to support a lesser known charity that helps a minority group immensely. I would certainly not knock any of the leading charities and continue to support them myself but they do get a lot of media attention whereas the Scuba Trust does not.

I sincerely hope you will give my suggestion serious consideration.

Best wishes

Marauder
