Exclamation YD Supported charity for 2007
Had a chat with Andy about which charity YD should adopt for 2007 and we have decided to throw it open to the boards for suggestions so over the coming week (when I am in Gran Canaria ) can you suggest a charity we should look to adopt. Please take this seriously and not post frivilous comments! When I return we will then set up a poll with the responses and take votes on it with the top voted charity being our adopted charity for 2007.

You have all done yourselves proud in the past and I do not want anyone to think we are constantly looking for donations for various things but we do have scope for fund raising potential and I am very much of the opinion that even a £1 raised is a £1 more in the coffers of a worthwhile cause.

In the past we have either done diving related, or diving people related, such as the MND stuff.
Maybe this year we could do the RNLI, or have we done that one recently ?

Good suggestion - I do not want to restrict it to diving related if people feel another cause is worthwhile. If the RNLI comes top then thats who we go with.

Although many of us support the RNLI, they can hardly be called poor.
I'd like it to be diver related, but more of a cinderella case.

One where even small amounts may make a difference.

No idea who though, but thought that's who should benifit.

Good idea. Any idea, perhaps a charity that looks after old bent divers that have fallen on hard times e.g. ex commies??

I like the idea very much and for it to change every year. We could have a raffle with Yd'rs & others contributing to prizes (I'm sure I can dig up some good Port).

  • RNLI
  • Scubatrust
  • Cancer Research

DDRC, seconded.

The Cornwall air ambulance is also a very good cause, they also take divers off boats and run them to DDRC when problems have occurred.
