YD 2007 charity

Another in favour of the RNLI as "our" charity.

A question... is there an easy way that we can keep a rough track of the amount we raise? (Just so we have an idea if we raised enough over the year for a new lifeboat, or only a new collecting tin!)

Also, how much would we have to raise to get a Lifeboat named (RNLB Yorkshire Diver?)

I am glad to hear that Chris Hall's MND charity is to be continued to be supported long term by YD.

Chris embodied the YD spirit , befriending many divers who needed some help and offered training at little or no cost (most famously "a bar of cadbury's whole nut!" in exchange for a PADI nitrox course)

Liz Hall is raising money for MND this year by trekking to everest base camp along with a group of chris's friends, including my sister Marcia, and Robert-Jan. For more details of this see

Just had a quick scan through and can't see anything specific, I think it is down to percentage of donation compared with total cost, as a new Tamar is in the region of £2.5mill we may have to sponsor an inshore D class.

fatlaz and i are looking at a round the uk diving/driving trip again this may. possibly spread over two weeks.

bit more organisation this time! getting sites, dates and if possible - maybe some divers to meet/dive with at the sites when we get there

clockwise this time thought - dover across south coast, up west, then back down the east

How will this work. Will there be a YD volunteer (admin e.g) that will control the finance? Will there be raffles, donations, sponsor dives etch. Easy forms of payment such as Paypal will help especially for those that can not make it personally.

Have fired an email off the RNLI asking for suggestions and guidance on how to best utilise our efforts. Will post the response when I receive it.

Can we set up a YD "JustGiving" site, that this year directs to the RNLI? It would mean that apart from cash donations, none of us would have to handle any money.
