I just asked one of the crew i knew and had a chat with the station manager. It had to be ok with the rest of the crew before i got the go ahead as you have to be able to get on with everyone.

Is there an amount it costs to train up a new crew member? or an amount it costs to equip them? Maybe YD cash could be raised to pay the costs for our own crew member??? That would somehow makei t seem more personal even if in practice it just goes into the big pot (sorry bad word to use for divers!)

can someone tell me does the money donated go to a specific RNLI station or does it go to HQ and dished out from there,

the problem you have here is that everyone would like it to go to there local RNLI station, as would I.

Centrally as far as I am aware. It would be impractical if not impossible for each station to manage their own fund raising and finances etc. i imagine any sponsorship would be like the 'sponsor a child' stuff for Africa where the person is a symbol of what you have achieved rather than personally directly benefiting from your fund raising.

I think the RNLI do have particular funds, ie there is fundraising for a new station in Exmouth. You can raise money with that particular aim in mind.

Otherwise, AIUI, it all goes in to one big pot.
