| Sidmouth Lifeboat Hi all, Local news item in the West Country Yesterday. Sid & Alma are two shop mannequins dressed up as lifeboat crew on Sidmouth's Esplanade. Sid & Alma who raise about £14,000 a year towards Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat's service's annual running costs of £50,000 a year could be at threat from a single letter of complaint. Without the donations Sid & Alma collect the Lifeboat service would struggle to find much needed funds to continue proving its much need lifeboat service (Sidmouth Lifeboat is not run by the RNLI but is totally Independent of them and receive no funding from the RNLI or any other goverment bodies.) Please support this local resource by following the link and signing the petition. sidmouthlifeboat.org.uk Dave Ps. You are not going mad you will see this post on YD, BSACforum & SWM

| I used to do some training (resus stuff) for the Sidmouth Lifeboat crew. A very dedicated bunch of volunteers. An ex-member of the crew is a member of my branch. Sidmouth is full of old grumpies with nothing better to do! (and SWMBO's Mother lives there!, as does my DO!)

It seems that current local bylaws say a licence is required to collect on the streets. The Lifeboat does not have this licence. All the council need to do is grant a licence or exempt that bit of street. They can't ignore the complaint. The local councillors are supporting the Lifeboat, so I am sure the dummies won't disappear. Adrian
