| Hello all and Happy New Year! I've not been on here much lately because my girlfriend gave birth on 23 Dec to a beautiful baby boy. He seems to be taking up most of my time lately! Anyway, I wanted to come on here and just quickly ask people to support the Help for Heroes charity. On an earlier thread a couple of months ago, there was a discussion about a news article printed in The Telegraph. The article reported that: "Injured soldiers who lost their limbs fighting for their country have been driven from a swimming pool training session by jeering members of the public." Disabled veterans jeered at swimming pool - Telegraph I think most agreed that it was pretty outrageous and it reminded me of the Help for Heroes charity which is trying to raise money for wounded veterans, and improve facilities at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Headley Court. I mentioned at the time and that Monty Halls was trying to gain support from the diving community for the Charity by doing a "3 Lakes Challenge". This was basically a short dive at the three highest lakes in Britain within 24hrs. Monty has now completed the challenge and posted highlights on You Tube. I believe a report was also due to appear in this month’s Dive magazine, although I have not found it yet! So have a look. There's a lot of people on YD with links to the forces so I hope YD members will donate a little bit of money to the charity. Please let's not get into the politics of war on this thread. But it would be great if we can keep this going. Maybe donate some money, or perhaps some of us can come up with some fundraising ideas of our own? I would happily get involved if there are any ideas. I’ll start the ball rolling with £20. You can learn more on the Help for Heroes website and donate here: Justgiving - HELP FOR HEROES |

| I'll be nominating this charity for the YD support, anyone else?

| Gets my vote. For what is worth just done a trip today around San Carlos and Goose Green, the terrain that the boys 'yomped' over is 'demanding' to say the lease. Its easy for me at 2000ft. So total respect for what happened 25+ years ago and the the boys and girls of today in sandier warmer places totally deserve everyones respect and help. No union or real voice, just a sense of humor and loyalty to their country. Donation on its way. Rgds Pete H PS its summer in the Falklands and its blowing a gale25 to 35kts tonight cloud base at 600ft.
