Help for heroes gets my backing (ex Army), these lads deserve all the support they can get from their country, not abuse

Heartwarming to see the support for Help For Heroes. It already has, and continues to have, my personal support and that of many colleaugues. For those unaware i am still serving and spent much of last year somewhere sandy.

I am also a member of the Riders Branch of the Royal British Legion. Think a bikers chapter of the Legion and you get the idea. A number of us went to Headley Court, the rehabilitation centre for UK forces personnel, for their Christmas party to show support and deliver gifts. I well up at the memories of talking to some of those dealing with truly horrific injuries. Their courage is truly overwhelming and it is humbling to be in their prescence. The phrase "there but for the grace of God go I" seems pertinent.

Some may recall the disgraceful treatment of some of these wounded service personnel by women at the public swimming pool where they were undergoing physio. A purpose built facility for the patients of Headley Court is just one of the aims of the charity.

That's my vote anyway.

Jim

It really grips my shit that there's even a need for a charity like this.

We've got a bunch of wankers in power that are quite happy to spend billions fighting a war that should never have been fought in the first place but aren't prepared to spend money on equipping the guys properly or treating them with any compassion or dignity when they get hurt

For what its worth, I'd go for Help for Heros to.

Putting my vote in for Help For Heroes also!

I find myself with a fair bit of time on my hands due to the shift pattern I work so i'll be pleased to get stuck into helping out!

I would go for Help For Heroes and would be willing to help out with the admin and fundraising too.

Nick, fully agree.

Son, you're going to have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming aircrew. You can't do both.

The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no limits.

Marine Conservation, don't get me wrong, I applaud what the people in the Forces are doing, but isn't joining the Forces a voluntary act?
