| Taking up Monty Halls Challenge! Sub-Mission Dive Centre are taking up Monty's "3 Lakes Challenge" as seen in February's DiveMagazine. This is basically a spin on the three peaks challenge. The idea is to dive the UK's three highest lakes in under 24 hours. All dive kit must be carried by each individual to the lakes, which in total is a 36 km hike over mountain terrain. We are raising funds for the Donna Louise Trust, which is a hospice for terminally ill children and respite centre for their families. As the only girl in the team I am training hard in determination to be able to complete the event so any suggestions or support would be greatly appreciated! So while we undertake a gruelling fitness regime to try and complete the challenge within 24 hours, if any members would like to contribute even the smallest amount please visit; www.justgiving.com/sub-mission Thanks everyone!! |

| Very high lakes, diving in them, and hiking 36 km in high terrain carrying dive kit ? Instant bend, surely ? Unless the dives are 1 minute in 2 metres each or something. I am sure it has been worked out and calculated, but I would be checking carefully before you do that...

| The dive profiles are actually very short and have been planned carefully. I think that whole challenge is more about the walking etc. |

| Or do a dive to a maximum of 6m on pure O2; would help with the fitness in the 'mountains' too

You can't do both. The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no limits. |

Goodoh As I said, I was sure that they had been fully considered for something like that but I would have hated to have read about something later on and think "hmmm" I'll check out the just giving stuff when I get home from work tonight, as we can't access that from here.

| don't carry weights. Pick up some rocks at each lake then dump them to move onto the next. See if you can blag a carbon fiber cylinder for the day. It would mean finding more rock. |

| sod that that is why cars and chairlifts were invented !!! ![]() |
| ||||
| Use a 3L pony as your cylinder. No need for a BCD - I would rig up some sort of webbing and zip tie contraption.

| Thanks for everyone's suggestions so far. I was planning on using a pony, my air consumption isn't bad so that would be a good option but a carbon fiber cylinder is a great idea. I think I am going to have to start going to the gym as well as using my cross trainer (also known as the clothes horse) at home. Not liking the idea of that!! I think, if all else fails, Dr T's chair lift idea is great. Maybe I could rig up some sort of sled on the back of one of the other team members? |
