Charity Gliding Evening 2008

We did it in 2007 and had a laugh. I got SoggyFox to squeal like a girlie and raised £200 for the RNLI.

Come along to Lasham (near Basingstoke in Hampshire) on Friday 23rd of May and fly without an engine. It'll cost you £45 which includes a £5 donation to the YD charity (whatever it is by then). I'll add another £5 for every diver who comes along. I have reserved 18 places, so roll up, roll up and add your name to the list.

The small print: You must be of sound mind and body (if you can dive, you should be fine for flying). Taller than 6 foot 4 inches is very tricky; heavier than 225 lbs clothed is too heavy. Small people can be accommodated - last year Mark Chase brought thousands of relatives and small children as long as they are well behaved and will follow directions, then little 'uns can join in. Absolutely no alcohol in the 8 hours before the flight and less than 5 units in the 12 hours beforehand.

Just to add to this, When Uwila organised this last year a bunch of us including a very large Chasey contingent turned up, we had a great evening, Soggy will still tell you he didn't squeal, but I believe Uwila. It is well worth doing so get your names down.

Well, I believe BA organise 777 flights that are engine free...

I do have a glider with big wings - nearly 60 foot wingspan - but it only has one seat The limit is not there because the glider can't take the weight, but because of the strength of the seating in the event of an approach to the surface which exceeds normal speed limits (crash)
