fraid workin but can count me in for a contribution. curious to hear the logistics. Would there be a lot more drag with a single 12 and a sideslung than a twin-set, that way u could have a fresh stage dropped of the rib whenever you needed it and keep the gas in the single on your back in reserve.

thought it would be easier for access to the participants especially access from where the shore difficult.mind you if outboards not allowed would take a lot of paddling.

West Cumbria BSAC did this a while ago, and I think they got permission to use a rowing boat as support, from which they had a line down to 6 metres for the divers to follow. This was only for 2 active divers, so logistically this approach may not work for a large group swimming at differing paces. If you follow a contour on the bottom at 6 metres it will be a much longer swim than going straight end to end.
Also bear in mind that if there is a strong wind blowing there will still be some current at 6 metres in the direction of the wind, so plan the direction to dive when you know the wind forecast.
If I can get off work I will come to support.

    Cheers
    Gareth

I think that was WCBSAC plan to lower cylinders if required.
Also to reduce drag you could wear wetsuits, it is usually quite warm at 6metres in September. I had a dive last week in a 5mm wetsuit and was still comfortable after about an hour at 6 metres.
Dont need to worry about a pee valve either!
