Amen to that John. It's not just that - US factories are now going into production to sell the breech and chamber kits and the semi-to-full-auto mechanisms which were banned under the 10 year moratorium - so, Colombine II, III, IV etc. in-coming. The annoying thing about this - and flying in the face of all common sense and received wisdom - is that virtually every US police agency has come out against the relaxing of the laws and said that, under the ban, gun crime actually went DOWN! But hey, the Yanks have all the rights and none of the responsibilities - so they sow, so shall they reap.

| George Bush is (apparently) in favour of a ban, but wouldn't press congress for time to renew it... I saw a debate recently where a US journalist found our current pre-occupation with the fox hunting issue 'quaint' and 'charming' I wondered though, how this can seem old-fashioned when they are providing weapons of war to the general public.

If you have an all-pervasive cancer like the NRA buying every senator and govenor in sight, what can you expect? And then the final insult being to have some syrup-wearing twat like Charlton Heston (president of the NRA) wandering out with rallying lines like: "[you will only remove this weapon] From my cold, dead, hand..." OK, Charlton, not long now, eh? Senile old nodder.

Seriously, the gun-toting American public need to jump one way or the other - either they are the most advanced nation on earth and capable of dictating world events, or they are all Butch Cassidy clones. My favourite quote from the news last night... British reporter: Why would anyone need a gun like this? (pointing at big, scary, automatic shooty thing) Gun shop assistant: Uhhhhhhhhh, why not? Uh-huh. Convinced me. Lou |

| The yanks are insane but you have to admit the states where you can legally shoot any one on your property who is not supposed to be there, have got the right idea. Unlike the UK where if you do catch a burglar steeling your hard earned stuff you have to apologise and make him a cup of tea or you will be banged up in prison for assault and then sued for emotional stress by the burglar. It would cut down the number of Jehovah's Witness calls as well so a double bonus ATB Mark Chase
