| There is no reason on earth for me to watch those videos - I can imagine well enough what happened and I don't need give anyone a reason to film another one by adding another "hit" to their website. I would entirely agree with the rest of your sentiment though. I am sure that everyone's thoughts are with Mr Bigley and his family. A worse ordeal it is hard to imagine. Much as I happen to detest the man, I also feel for Blair this morning. Not a choice I would ever want to have to make and I have no odea what the "right" answer is. |

| I think it is an utter disgrace that we are now viewing live beheadings, and poor souls begging for their lives on television. What possible purpose does this serve except for sensationalist television? It's disgusting. And once again I agree with Lou... I loathe Tony Blair with a passion. But today he has no choice and he will have to shoulder that guilt for the rest of his life. I would not wish that on anyone. Not even him. As for the family, words fail me.

| ? Bren, I agree wholeheatedly with your sentiments, but I can't understand why you chose (I assume you weren't coerced) to watch these videos? Can you share your reasoning? This is not intended to be having a go at you in any way, it's an honest question as to what would cause you to watch them? Andy

| Its a real bugger that people are being taken hostage, but surely as soon as we give in to one set of demands the number of hostages taken will increase? I dont hate Tony Blair, I think he has had some shitty times to be a prime minister. I look at the (main) alternative and am pretty glad he is in charge - well actually, its his party who is in charge not just the one man. Roll on the day the Lib Dems are in charge. Or even better, the Greens. I loathed it when his son was born and all the papers were full of cartoons of an ugly baby with sticky out ears. That child will see them one day, and wonder why the world hated him. But enough digressing.

| I think it is hideous. Feel so so sorry for this man to have this to look forward to and for his family to know that his death will be so brutal and also for him to know that he will be beheaded in such a manner is one of the worst things imaginable. Its one thing to know that you may get a bullet to the head but at least that is very quick but to be butchered like that is terrible. Im sure everyones prayers are with this man I continue to wonder how islamic terrorists can be quite so brutal and so extreme. To be honest, and this is coming from a man who grew up in a brutal time for Ireland, these terrorists are without doubt the most terrifying thing in the world today. | I did wonder about finding "the web site" myself in order to hopefully leave a message giving vent to my opinions. In the end I decided not to, for no other reason than "it didn't feel right". These people profess to be fighting against the Americans because they want them out of Iraq. Anyone who doesn't seriously believe that the Americans want out of Iraq (physically - at least) asap is, in my opinion, delusional. These kind of terrorist activities within Iraq are only going to prolong the presence of foreign troops. Their only reason for these activities is because they want a war and for their fundamentalist version of Islam to be the governing force in the world. I find fanatics of any sort very disturbing and religion (or, maybe, just its misinterpretation) equally so. It would seem that everyone who believes in God has a different idea of what that God wants and furthermore seems to be able to justify any atrocity. If I have any psychic powers I am trying to direct them against Al-Zaqawi (sp) and I wish very nasty things upon him. I also believe that acceding to terrorists demands is wrong and I hope that I would have the fortitude to still believe that if I were in KBs position. Fingers crossed for the "right result".

However I have never met a true christian (or other religions) ie someone with FAITH and not religion, who would ever ever do anything other than condem the hurting of others. My missus, a minister, always says there is a great difference between religion and 'faith' and some of the worst people she has ever met have been religious. One needs to look no further than the Magdelene nuns here in Ireland who terrorised and tortured for years without question but these people are hiding behind the cloak that is religion and are not practising it at all. I have never met a single God fearing person who would ever justify attrocities of any sort. People who do so simply so not believe in the Big Mans teachings. One of the ten commandments that He gave to us, around which we should base our lives in Thou shalt not kill! As for Islam there have been many a twat who thinks they are a Sheik sent by Allah, and yes there does seem to be an inordinate number of extremists in this faith but they are by far outweighed by good God fearing muslims who condone any of the actions of Al Queida (sp?) and are outspoken regarding it. There is an muslim peer in the house of Lords who at every oppurtunity will speak out against Islamic Fundamentalism and its supporters, but it is not good news so is not often seen on TV. Anyone who believes truely in the Big Guy upstairs would NEVER condone anything that would harm anyone. Dinger Last edited by Dinger : 23-09-04 at 11:59 AM. |
