Ok, the mix of stupidity and greed then.

Personally I prefer "Never underestimate the power of really stupid people in large groups". I refure to make a comment about the current government!

Its when you get people who are not stupid, but greedy and in goverenment you need to worry. Perhaps Alan Milburn might like to explain his directorship of an MRI scannner company that supplies mobile scanners to the NHS when the NHS scanners do not have enough staff to operate them and are underutilised, good stuff for a "Labour" health secretary eh? Wankers. Please can we have a real left alternative with people that care about the UK and its citizens.

Maybe such people would also have a degree of commonsense about risk management in the public sector?

Breath un-held.

Chris

Angry

for the record I agree entirely with all the comments above we are raising a nation of kids who have no idea how dangerous and competitive the real world is, they are not allowed the learning curve that most of us thankfully got through relatively unscathed.

As a school governor I see the frivolous where there is "blame" there is a claim society we are free falling into all to often, and that is why idea's crazy to us seem good sense to LEA's who are scared of being sued for their own shadows.

Unfortunately it is a shining example of the minority who upon hearing of little Josie's/Johnnie's conker accident, their first thought would be to ring the solicitor bo****ksing it up for the rest of us.

Don't forget there are legal firms out there advertising that they specalize in litigation against Local education authority's and Health trusts

Safe diving,
Steve.

For a government that keeps raising taxes on everyone why not make these sodding 'policy makers' redundant. The do sod all but sit around on their fat arses and come up with complete shite in order to justify their employment. Almost every job within the public sector is loaded with forms upon forms of risk management for wipeing your own arse!. In my lab at uni recently the Health and Safety people pulled me up on my risk assessment form because I had not identified the risk associated with MilliQ water (basically very purified water we use for some experiments) - FFS its fecking water. Unless I fill the bloody sink with the stuff and attempt to drown myself with it I am at a loss to understand its "risks".

As for this banning of sports days - WTF is that about. Life is competition. Yes sometimes it can get too much and people hurt but for God sake - everyone looses at some point and them making it so that no-one looses is silly cause when these kids get released into the big bad world they wil get eaten alive. So much for 'education'!

At this rate the next generation are going to end up a bunch of over-liberal, limp wristed, non-competative, drippling, litigious morons who wet themselves at the thought of competition or work that might strain your wrist. Or heaven forbid you they may be 'slighted' and have their feelings hurt. The whole thing is breading "victims". If i came home from school and told my dad the teacher hit me he would slap me for good measure too.

Damn it makes me mad. Some people just need a cuff round the ear and told to get on with it.

I used to hate sports day. It was yet another opportunity for people to be cruel and for the same people to bask in the glory.

Yes. But did you play conkers at sports day?

Nah, i was brilliant at conkers. My grandad was a carpenter and had made a wooden conker out of walnut (i think). It was indestructible. Still got it somewhere.....

Aye, and whilst that might be regrettable, is it any reason to ban it altogether or, even more bizarrely, make it so that "nobody wins and nobody loses - coz 'we're all winners...'" (with all the attendant hilarity which this rich seam of PC-clap-trap engenders)?

"Bah-bah white sheep, have you any wool...."

Bollocks.

I didnt say ban it altogether, but maybe have things that we can all excell at. I used to be cracking at the discus. The stooooooooooooooopid teacher decided to stand at the end of the tape measure. I missed her by about a foot.

We have to remember that half of the things that have been changed in this country that people whine about are our own fault!

Kids can no longer go on school trips because the schools cannot afford the insurance for when little Chardonnay-Morgan falls and scrapes her knee and mum tries to take the school to the cleaners.
