As long as everyone at your end knows about Bob then even if the calls don't stop, you can have fun. Bob's away from his desk at the mo' Bob's on the other line Bob's at (insert competitors name her) he's been looking for a product like yours for ages, why didn't you call? He's on his annual mosquito culling holiday. Bob was saying how sorry he was he'd missed your call, he's really interested in refilled toner carts/cheaper switches/2nd hand PCs/etc. The good thing is that we should make sure we all use Bob Savage and that he's the only person that can deal with the caller, then when the cold callers get wise, there's no way they'd dare call you a liar. r Paul

how about one of those rape alarm things and then when they call and actually answer you let it off down the phone. Maybe a touch extreme but they might get the message. If not report them to OFCOM. might help.

TPS have a complaints registration form at http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/cgi-bin/tps_complaints.pl Alternatively, ofcom have a complaints procedure at http://www.ofcom.org.uk/advice/contact/tel_issues/ Simon

Cold calls You have several options Complain to TPS (The company may not subscribe to TPS) Next time they ring ask if they are TPS compliant. If they answer "Yes", respond as follows: Ask very politely to be placed on their kill list with immediate effect. If the answer is "No" Take the whistle that located next to your phone and blow very hard. I am registered on TPS and is has been very effective for UK calls.

Oh I think I'm warming to 'Bob Savage'......... In the meantime I am logging calls and will complain to the TPS.

| Sound interested, ask for the sales persons name. Ask them to spell it. Several times. Say its a nice name. You knew someone called (insert sales persons name) once, but they moved away. Ask them if they know the person. Say you would like to know another (sales persons name) again. If the opposite sex, ask them out. Edit - I was interested in these guys - we get a lot of cold calls here at work and they sound familiar. They are not registered under Applegate, a site which lists most large companies, who runs them etc. Also they are not forthcoming with an address or a phone number on the site. After a little digging i came up with this - Customer Services, Caudwell Communications Ltd., Christie Fields, Derwent Avenue, Manchester, M21 7QS and a phone number of 0845 6760 767 This address is not on Applegate either, slightly worrying. Maybe if we all phone them and tell them to bugger off they might get the idea

Best to remember its the companies we should be holding to account not the poor operator who's trying to earn a little money and getting shed loads of abuse for doing so. a little fairness. Ask for the manager of the company and then give them a bucket load of abuse and threaten to report them to OFCOM TPS etc, likely to make more of a difference.
