This line-up was definitely better than the original - any billing with The Who followed by Pink Floyd is pretty much unbeatable! And considering they hadn't played together for over 20 years the Floyd were absolutely flawless - surely the greatest live band ever to grace a stage.

And as usual, Robbie Williams was fantastic. Whatever you think of his music (and I enjoy it for what it is) there's no argument that he is a natural entertainer born to be on a stage. I always enjoy watching him.

I'm looking forward to going to the gig in Edinburgh now, though the line-up isn't quite as impressive (though I'm a bit excited at the prospect of seeing James Brown) and getting away from the music we'll also be joining the demonstration.

My colleague (and occasional YD poster) Christina is going up there as part of the policing operation this week. I'll be looking for her for a bit of fun and games to lighten the mood!

I think tht I must be strange, or the only sane one in the asylum....I can't bear Robbie Williams. Seeing him on stage makes me want to thorw things whilst scratching my skin off with steel wool. That one man can be so utterly, utterly arrogant and self-absorbed and have people cry out for more amazes me. Strangely i find his music better than his persona, in a reversal of most other views!

I didn't see much of the show, but I thought the Killers were good (why only one song?), Miss Dynamite let herdelf down with a weak rendition of Redemption Song, Madonna was so-so - she could have been less self-aware and done one of her older hits which are better suited to live performances than her recent dance stuff. I missed the later stuff including Pink Floyd, which I am gutted about, but I was whacked after getting up at 3am to go diving . I am sure there will be a "highlights" show on at some point though.

I got the end bit on tape (about 2 hrs), once Sarah has seen it you are welcome to it.
Floyd were simply out of this world, showed everyone else the way it should be done.

You have to visit a third world country and see real poverty first hand to get a better understanding of just how lucky we are living in a developed nation, and anything that we as a developed nation can do to help the less fortunate in the world is worth it, even if it means an increase in personal taxes.

Liberal faggot? Perhaps I am. But at least I have that choice. There are multi-millions who don't get that same choice and die of malnutrition, unsafe drinking water, lack of medical facilities, etc. Sure, there's a whole bunch of other things that need addressing as well, for example free trade and tackling corruption, but we have to take a first step on a long journey.

If anyone out there doesn't believe me they should get their sad, arrogant arse to Africa or Asia and get a reality check. Reality for the majority of the souls living on the planet Earth is not the same as the reality we have here.

May the 8 leaders meeting in Glen Eagles make the tough decisions that are required.

Oh yeah - Madonna was awesome! She's one sexxxy laydeeee...

Not wanting to start an argument( I signed the list and the one at make poverty history) but how many pensioners in this country live below poverty line having saved all their lives to be taxed to death, unable to get even the simplest operation done on the NHS without a waiting list an eternity long, prime example was the old Navy boy 100 years old (last to climb mast on HMS victory before dry docking) being quoted 12month wait for basic footcare treatment on the NHS, pensioners having to decide in winter eat or heat. FFS we need to get our own house in order first before writing off all the 3rd world debt.

And more than likely the smug bliar(sic) will use the elimination of the debt , if succesful to his own political advantage.

Whilst I understand this country is far from perfect, very few if anyone actually dies through lack of food or medical care.

The BBC have been running programme called Africa Lives, during one programme there was a hospital where a lady needed an operation, before she was treated her family had to go and buy the drugs she needed and even worse provide all the blood she needed during the operation, things we take for granted.

Also a school in Uganda where up until recently even a primary school education had to be paid for, the government then made primary school education free the attendance doubled from 3 million to over 7 million, their secondary education still has to be paid for which is difficult with no parents as in one of the boys cases, they were actually breaking into school.

During a newspaper review this morning there was a report about an 85 year grandfather who had gone to school for the first time as primary education was now free.

As Andy2tanx mentioned at the beginning of this thread if one person like the young women from the original VT 20 years ago survives then surely it is worth it.

As continually mentioned last night 50,000 people died today, can we really stand and watch.

Postcode lottery for anti cancer drugs!

Yes if it saves one life it will be worth it ,but people do die in this country from lack of food shelter and warmth all I am asking is we think of our own first.

I agree with dry suit diver.

We always seem to put everyone else first.

We should look after our pensioners as a Number One priority. A lot of these fought in the wars to give us what we have today. and what do they get as a reward.... F All.

Perhaps if the asylum seekers and spongers who claim every benefit under the sun were stopped from claiming and had to go out and find work, and not turn it down because they get more on benefits than they could earn then perhaps there'd be more to go round

Hell it really gets me going so I'd better stop before I start to say the type of things that aren't PC but most decent hard working folk think.

I do wonder what will happen to the planet with 6 billion affording cars/videos/tvs etc. The power usage/pollution/global warming of the present will be small by comparison.
