| if someone can prove to me the exsistence of God/Higher presence/Omnipotent being etc, I'll believe. Telling me to 'believe' just doesn't cut the mustard i'm afraid. Until then I'm a sceptic, to me personally, science explains most things and continues to discover and answer more question. It worries me deeply that our american cousins are walking a very deadly path, it seems almost to be walking a path of christian fundamentalism. |

| It's staggering how these people can come up with the most ludicrous arguments to back up Creationism and maintain that God created the known universe on a Tuesday evening sometime in October 4004 BC despite all the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. For me, Intelligent Design leads to the conclusion 'who or what created the creator' - reductio ad absurdam. I had a long discussion about this nonsense with a pair of Jehovah's Witnesses one morning earlier this year (I had nothing else to do at the time) and ended up giving one of them a copy of 'The Blind Watchmaker' by Richard Dawkins. It was returned a few weeks later and I know it wasn't read. For their part they gave me a book to read that purported to counter all of the evidence in favour of evolution, it appeared to be aimed at junior school children and the arguments it put forward were paper-thin. These are the sort of mentalities we're dealing with. It would be laughable if religious fundmentalism wasn't posing one of the most serious threats to our future security. |
