| With Orange, I can access my account online and see my itemized call list before my bill gets delivered - maybe you can do something similar with Vodaphone?

| OK, A while ago my partners bag was stolen from the bar where she was standing, the people who took it were caught on CCTV, the car they were driving was also on CCTV. I phoned her phone and spoke to the to**er who took it. The police were called, and the CCTV footage handed over. Guess what happend................... can't, well I'll tell you, sod all. We were eventially told that no action would be taken. My answer was to track them down myself, which we did, and we all had a nice friendly chat. If she was at a home, then the odds are it was someone who is known, if you are anyway as irritated was start asking for and get a list of all the people who were there nad ask them one by one if they took the stuff, most of these idiots are so stupid they can't help themselves and smirk as they say no. | Sorry to hear about the phone Finless but sad to say no doubt nothing will be done to the perp if and when they catch them. My B-In-Law, daft prat, went to get a morning paper and left his car key in the ignition of his car. A scrote, seized the moment and the Vectra, his mobile phone and packed lunch as well!! Anyway, turn out this guy is 20yr old and out on bail for Arson. He was picked up later that same dayu using stolen credit cards with his 14yr old girlfrirend whom he is also pimp for. They couldn't speak to him until he had been interviewed by his drug councillor. He has since been granted bail yet again for this offence as well as the hit and run he caused when he took B-I-L's car. He sold the car as well by the way. Turns out they have now found the car and I had to ring the police today to confirm the my B-I-L won't get done for not having any tax on his car (he was on his way to the car dealers to change cars and let it run out - Honest Guv) and the DC confirmed that he wouldn't as they are far more interested in the guy who had nicked the car as he was picked up last night and is now in custody for yet another unrelated offence. When will the Majestrates accept that this guy needs locking up (atleast on remand until his trial.)

| you cant blame the boys in blue, most of them are just as pd off with the situation as the general public, i know a few and most with a few years service seem to be counting the days to retirement! the fault is with government pc quotas and targets, the human rights legislation and more poorly drafted legislation that seeks to turn the perpetrator into the victim and vice versa! as ever with a socialist mob they think that they know best! |

sorry mate the only socialist in the current government is Gordon Brown, all the rest are closet Tories.

| Sorry to hear about the wife's loss Bryan. Was it such a good idea to cancel the cards? The thief might spend less. I detect a great deal of dissatisfaction and frustration and much directed at the police. There seems to be a general impression that we're just not arsed. The truth is far from that. Of course we care, but we are just as frustrated as everyone else. Take the issue of the phone number called. It's true that the phone companies cannot tell you what number has been called on your phone by someone else - and it is down to the Data Protection Act and the Human Rights Act. Yes, we can get the number. We need to get you to write to your phone company giving authority for the information to be released to us. Then I have to get authorisation from a senior officer to make the application (a 6 page document) which is then sent off to our telephone liaison department (because I'm not allowed to contact the phone company directly) who forward it on. About two months later I get the number. Nothing else, just the number. I then have to go through the whole process again to find out whose number it is. Another two months later I get the details - almost always an unregistered pay-as-you-go mobile. But, let's just say that against all odds I get a name. I then go to them and say "Can you tell me who phoned you at 12.23 pm on a Thursday 4 months ago?". It seems simple enough to just get the number called and track it back but looking at what's involved clearly it's an utterly pointless enquiry. Many people complain that the police don't do enough but that's mostly because they don't have any appreciation of just how difficult the apparently simple things can be. It used to be much simpler. I'd just phone a contact I had at whatever organisation and I'd have all the information I needed within the hour. I'd have the scrote arrested still with your phone on the day it was taken. If my contacts needed any help with anything I'd return the back scratching. Not any more - DPA and HRA have seen to that. And it's all for your protection!
