| NEVER - NO SURRENDER! OK I'll get my coat Dinger |

| Does using red factory floor tape to put St George Crosses on the sides and bonnet of my van count as being a flag waver. I only took them off becasue it was getting a bit too interesting driving through glasgow. Anywhere you go has its problems so why not just make do with your lot. Like tony said there are some lovely places in the UK. Clive

| Over the past few years first New Zealand and now Australia have been crying out for police officers to transfer over there. Quite a few of my colleagues have considered it and some have gone. I've discussed it with them many times and when I ask them why they are thinking of going they invariably say, "It's shit in this country". So then I ask, "Is it? Why?" and they often struggle to come up with anything specific. The truth is, while Britain might not be perfect it's still firmly in the top five countries to live in. I think there's just a habit of taking what you're used to for granted. Most of my colleagues who did decide to go overseas are now reaching the end of their contracts. All of those I've heard from are planning to come back. Apparently the other side of the hill wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

| Is there some middle ground? I am very proud to be British but I can certainly see the benefits of spending a few years abroad. I don't think that you have to be totally hacked off with Britain to want to go. |

| I agree with John. there are things about Britain that I am proud of, there are some tings that i am ashamed of, there are parts of the country I love and parts I hate. Overall I would like the opportunity to go and live somewhere else, to experience a different lifestyle and to have the chance to do things i can't do here. I would like a better climate, shallow though that is, and i would like markets in place of supermarkets. I would like to forget what a "chav" is......

| I always think some of the problem with Patriotism is people often think of Patriots as racist etc etc. As Lou said she wouldn't miss Chavs but they do seem to be everywhere - and dressed the same for some reason. Do they have an international website that tells them what to wear? The Chavs of course breed that Patriot who is proud of 'Engerland Footie' and thinks to celebrate the UK is to riot and chant at pubs - t*ats of course. My father is always on about the weather etc and how he wants to leave home but if it came down to it I do think he would miss home such as Mark'c collegue seem to have. I lived in the US for a couple of years and really enjoyed it but wouldn't want to live there the rest of my life - for me it aint all it is cracked up to be and with the 'Patriot' that they have in charge I wouldn't wish that on my worst ememy. Being 'Patriotic' is a good thing - heaven knows I am but its like everything else in life - Too much is a bad thing and according to OW "Patriotism is often a virtue of the vicious" Dinger |

| I've been to loads of foreign countries and still wanted to go home, our drivers might not be the best but there are loads worse out there.
