| That is my suspicion (and hope) too. If you know of any of the details of what changes are being made, maybe you can answer the questions that I can't?! So, a couple go through registration.....they are referred to as "partners" I assume, after that, where a married couple would be spouses. Partner always sounds naff....and people introducing their business partners will have to e even more careful to avoid a misunderstanding! A woman's title changes after marriage to Mrs, but after registration, what? If you keep Miss it is assumed you are single (as that is what it means) and using Ms (although I do) always makes me grit my teeth, something a bit PC about it. When I fill in a form now I have a choice between single, married divorced or widowed usually. By default I always have to tick single now. What do I tick after registration - or will the forms change? And if they change and one of the options is "registered" then that kind of states something.... Finally - how many newly changed double-barrelled names will be asked for by deed poll as there is no mechanism within the law for a name change for one or both partners?

| Strangely enough, I have never been interested in anyone's sexual orientation, gay, straight, whatever, I simply do not CARE...the only possible exception could be Finless with his erotically-coloured xenophobia, which seems very strange indeed

When did he show you his erotically-coloured xenophobia? Did you point and laugh?

Editted to say: Having read the thread properly I can see why people may want to holiday with people who wouldn't judge them - must be very hard restraining all public displays of affection - still if registration is anything like marriage, there'll be less of that nonsense going on after anyway! (only leg-pulling - married man joke!) Last edited by manic_mechanic : 02-09-05 at 12:47 PM. |
