| Another thing that I find particulalrly annoying on roundabouts is people who think that only one lane of traffic can go around no matter how wide the road. There is one near me where I frequently turn right but most traffic goes straight on. Rarely can I make this right turn without somebody cutting across my nose from the left lane taking a straight line across the roundabout. Lane discipline ...pah! |

Yup after following Clare to Vobster on Saturday I can wholeheartedly say that braking is not something that happens often, the favourite pedal being the righthand one as Clare can certainly get the Landy moving at a fair old speed.

Still my #1 pet hate is people who go all the way round roundabouts to turn left whilst there is a moderate sized queue in the left hand lane waiting patiently to do the same thing. Oh - and people who pull out on you on motorways and then don't pull back in when they've passed the car they were overtaking and there's no-one in the lane they left.

That's the only way I can work it out. Maybe we should change the law like in the USA so you can undertake on the inside. Maybe lane discipline would increase? Or do like they do in France and only have 2 lane motorways and force lane discipline.

| two lane motorways A great idea in theory, but what happens with a two lane motorway when lorry drivers invariably need to go the 1mph fast that the one in front and overtake... up a hill? Ah... the M4 in Wales... calski |

1: Move a majority of freight back onto Rail. Would save massive amounts of congestion 2: Make the right hand lane cars only so the lorries can't overtake.

... BUT, some people take that a bit too far. I know people who will stay so far behind that all the cars in front have moved into our lane, in front of us, so that effectively we're acting as a road block in the lane. In that situation i'd be keeping fairly close to the one in front if I ever wanted to get anywhere. David |

| The ones stopping at the roundabouts shouldn't be driving... plain and simple! The reason - they don't have the necessary observation skills to drive safely. They can only look ahead while they're driving, and to look sideways they need to stop first. Possibly a little bit of a generalisation, but there are SOOOO many people who really have no idea about whats going on around them... and of course they're rarely the ones involved in accidents, but rather the more observant vehicle who has to swerve out of their way or whatever while they're blissfully unaware of any problem whatsoever. David (who thinks everyone - including myself - should be re-tested every 5 or 10 years... especially the elderly!) |
