Blimming fecking trains

Well me and Missus Woz and Mini-Woz fancied training it down to the NEC on Sunday so we can have some pop in the bar. So - I check out the train times today and what do I find? 2:15 it takes to get to Birmingham International. I can get in the car and be there in 1/2 an hour. Do they have an extra-slow service on Sundays or something?

Useless. Bloody useless.

You think that's bad, try calling Virgin Trains call centre (not to clash with the other thread) - you'd quite happily spend 2 hours 15 mins on the bloody phone trying to book even the most simple and straightforward of journeys.

Kinda helps if the timetables they're working off match the ones on Virgin's website - ditto the rules governing peak/off-peak fares.

People think Branson's some form of latterday hero coz he signed the Sex Pistols - bollocks. He's a wido McWide from the Clan Wide and a Blair-buddy who cares not whom he pisses off (customer-wise) after he's flogged-off the branding rights to whatever venture out which he seeks to make money leaving them with all the grief. Twat.

Whilst I'm a free-marketer, I'd happily see the trains re-nationalised so they at least worked again.

You would have thought so, wouldn't you? I may have to have 1/2 a bottle of vodka for breakfast so I'll be too pissed to drive there, never mind back.

Ah Telford Central - the name gives you the impression of a big connecting station, when all it really is is two platforms off to the side of the worst planned, souless town since Milton Keynes. I bet the vending machine that passes for 'refreshments' still doesn't work.

the national rail service by far beats them all

try booking for the christmas break , something simple like going on the 23rd and returning on the 1st working day of the New Year.

we are sorry but we have no scheduled trains for the new year the train operators get the dates of network rail about 6-8 weeks in advance then the train operators can can timetable their services.

so book early for Christmas but try to return at your peril they wil sell you a full price ticket with no seat guaranteed but cannot offer any deals or guarantee a seat.

British rail did a better job of it and they were feckin sh!te.

network rail are the first against the wall come the revolution.

what's so depressing is that 59 years after the first New Town (stevenage) was completed, we have local govt's still beliving that a sterile environment is the way to tackle all of our social ills.

Given that central govt did away with this as a concept back in the 70's, i don't think telford will be the last place to bare such a colourful description.

Oh I dunno , most London boroughs are pulling down or radically changing the sterile estates and enclaves that were built in the early sixties when architects and town planners discovered LSD and other mind altering drugs.
