A good recruiter is worth their weight in gold (well I would say that with 10 years in the industry).
Without wanting to defend them too much I can get a phone call at 9.00am from a client saying I need CV's by 5.00pm. It doesn't matter that you and they know it's not realistic, you've got to do what your asked by a client. If you don't show willing it's often duly noted. In the contract world it's not unusual to be asked for someone to start work the next day.
We are commisioned sales people, we need to make money to keep buying dive kit. In many ways this recruiter prioritised her time efficiently (although she didn't take your needs into account) as she concentrated on what was probably a revenue generating exercise as opposed to a nicety.
Yes we make money from finding people jobs but the reality is a lot of people rely on us to do it and they wouldn't get the same sort of positions/salaries without our help. I'm sure there will be stories of people being stiffed on rates etc. but at the end of the day if you don't like the agency don't work with them. You have a choice.

Don't bet on it. I've told clients to pull/not to offer if someone dicks me about. We always have a back up candidate. In your mind your the best candidate but it's not your mind that matters

Treat us with respect and we'll do the same for you.
Oh and for the benefit of anyone on the board who uses agencies to recruit for them, pay us peanuts and expect a monkey to be doing the recruitment.
Finally to answer the question, I would have spoken to her and explained why you were disapointed with the cancellation. Probably too late now anyway.
