Not necessarily, if it's BUPA then you can contact them for an alternative consultant.

Sorry but that is bloody rediculous. Its one thing when rescheduling ops causes an inconvenience but keeping you out of work after 3 months is going beyond a joke.

As you are private your contract is with BUPA so you may be able to get BUPA to admit responsibility and squeeze you in with another consultant to at least get you signed off temporarily. If nothing else they may know which clinics your neurosurgeon is at the rest of the week......he can't be playing golf everyday except Wednesday.

As soon as I hear from work as to whether I have an apppointment or not with the company doctor, then that will determine if I go through AXA to see if it's possible to arrange with another consultant. I won't be able to see my original one as he's out of the country till the new year. Just sat around waiting now...

Got a call mid afternoon from my HR Dept saying asking if I could get into London sharpish as the Company Occupational Consultant could see me in an hour. Got dressed and for once the trains were kind, made it in 45mins!

After a lengthy chat and an examination he said there wasn't any reason why I couldn't go back so long as I was sensible about things. So, back to work tomorrow It's such a relief knowing that I will be getting paid again soon.

Couldn't give me the all clear to dive though, that will have to wait till Jan 4th when I see my consultant again, but I am confident that will be ok. I have a clear date that is looking good for my first dip, weekend of January 21st and 22nd. Can't wait..

They made the appointment you have the proof on the appointment card. If for some reason the consultant could not keep that appointment they should have made alternative arrangments prior to telling you he was away till January when you phoned to confirm appointment.

Your need to return to work is greater than his, He has a nice salary while you are living on statuatary sick pay.

Someone made a big boob somewhere and as it was done privately its incompitance so I would have thought some redress was appropriate.
