Why? More cars outside schools, the kids are relatively safe for most of the journey. Where is all the congestion? Outside the school where you have people parking all over so there's no place to cross safely, driving off while looking over their shoulder waving goodbye, stressy because they can't find a place so that the passenger door opens into the school gate not to mention opening roadside doors as soon as the pull up, a hazard to anyone actually cycling by them, fair play to any car driver that wants to take their door off.

| I wonder what persentage of accidents school kids are involved in are caused by parents on the shchool run? If we could get this infomation I'm sure it would be easy to ban the vast majourity of lazzy bastards from causing the trouble. Let the little darllings use theire £100 NIKE for the perpose they were designed for Walking/running ETC.

| I sympathise totaly. My office is directly opposite a school, we have a nice big carpark/yard for our vehicles and recently they painted double yellow lines down the road, useful you'd think. Now heres what happens. They park now with 2 wheels on the pavement, cos thats what double yellows means, now the women with kids and pushchairs moan like fuck about not being able to get along the road (and its their mates that are doing it). We've had a number of instances of them using our carpark for their convenience, it soon stop when we left a 8 wheel truck across the entrance for 3 hours and claimed it was broken and couldn't be moved, lots of tears and shouting and then we reminded them it was private property. If you pull out of the yard you take your life into your hands, the only way to see is pull into the middle of the road. And my biggest grump was being 'beeped' while walking along the pavement to the shop cos the lady in the merc was trying to park on the pavement, i had to count to ten and walk on. I've complained a number of times to the local and county councils but they dopn't seem to want to do anything. |

| At one school I know some of the parents got so cross about the dangerous/illegal parking outside the school that they said they would take photos of people parking dangerously/illegally outside the school and these would be posted and copies sent to the council. The school issued this in its newsletter. What happened after that I dont know. Maybe the threat of doing it was enough to deter people even if it was just for a while. |
