| Field and Trek Management - Nice Bar Stewards.... I have spoken to Jay re: this posting and we will wait to see if Field and Trek complain.... A friend of mine (and the guy who bought my last house) has sent me this email and asked that I give it the widest possible circulation to like minded people. SO here goes... ================================================ Until recently, my brother worked for Field & Trek in the Liverpool branch. On Wednesday 11th January he left the shop as usual and went home, returning on Thursday morning to open up. He was surprised to find that the shop had simply gone. The stock, and shop fittings having been removed sometime in the night after he had gone home. Neither they nor the manager, who is soon to be married, had been told anything in advance. When they phoned head office, they were told that the shop had been closed down, they would be paid for a further six weeks (the minimum legal requirement) and that they were now redundant. I for one will avoid Field and Trek in every way in the future, voting in the only way they seem to understand, financially. I feel that a retailer in the normally friendly and supportive sector who treats its staff in this way deserves to hear that we believe people cannot be treated in this way and I would appreciate it if you could support this boycott. It would be great if you could pass this on to any who may prefer to support those companies who support their staff. Richard ============================================== Please pass this email on to whom you think fit. I personally believe in praising the good guys and making sure the bad guys donīt get any return custom..... Regards

| Looking at their storefinder on the website they have shut a few more sotres too (they have deleted them from one list and left holes, but not another - how incompetent I wonder if they did the same there? The "lost" stores are.. Canterbury Gloucester Liverpool Machester Oxford It doesn't sound as though they have followed redundancy procedure though if the above is true. You mate should be able to take advice on this and, if he wanted, take them to tribunal.

| I noticed the other day that the store in Oxford had whited out it's windows and was closed - I just presumed that they were refitting or something but obviously not! They've not been there for that long either - only a couple of years, I think. |

| I have spent an absolute fortune in their Canterbury Store over the years and had very good service and support (including a free of charge brand new replacement of my tired Gore-Tex jacket which had, had 4 seasons of very hard skiing use). I will stop off in town over the next couple of days and see if its still open.
