Clamp yourself

A friend of mine bought his own "denver boot". Parks where he likes, Clamps himself, goes about his day. Returns to car, unlocks clamp, sticks it in the boot and drives off. Jobs a good 'un

try it in Islington and you have a long bus ride to Newham to the 'pound' after the vehicle has been lifted.

Barstewards.

Easy answer to this one......
Find a double, or single yellow line for that matter, drive along it until you see it broken because of road repairs etc, or one without the mandatory T bar at BOTH ends, park on it (making sure you DONT cause an obstruction as this is a separate offence), return to your car, take off your offence ticket and present it together with photographic evidence, ie use your mobile, to the local coucil office. (You can save them up, so wait until you have 5 or more)
You may have to threaten to allow them to take you to court, but you WILL win as there has been no offence committed. ALL yellow lines, and taxi ranks for that matter have to stick to stringent regulations concerning how the lines are painted and maintained.
I have done this several times now, and even park on the same yellow line each week ( It hasn't got the Tbar at one end). The wardens dont even bother putting a ticket on anymore, but do on other cars parked there
Disclaimer: I accept no responsibility if things go tits-up for anyone trying this

It works. A lot of new lines are also missing the end bars as I think the lining contractors are wising up to the law.

Having lived in London that sounds like a bargain to me. Try parking for half an hour in Westminster on a meter.

Last time we were in Swanage the thing that annoyed me was the car park by the pier where there was only a daily rate (4.50 IIRC) and no chance to buy a half hour ticket to walk to the pier and check out the vis. However there was loads of free parking by the flats at the top of the hill.

Parking paradise

Chris
