British Gas - Bloody Muppets

I few weeks ago I booked for today a boiler service and a kitchen appliance annual check. I phoned this morning to check what time the afternoon appointments started as I wanted to go out, after telling her I had two appointments booked I was told it started at 12 noon, so I had to stay in.

At 2.45 the boiler man came, he is a really nice guy and has been for the last 3 or so years, so we have a chat he asked me if I am still diving and we joke about what time the other service engineer would arrive As I needed to go to the bank / PO I phoned BG to find out what time he might arrive and was told I didn't have an appointment scheduled - I say yes I have and I raise my voice, I ask to speak to a supervisor and he put me on hold, eventually he comes back and tells me a supervisor isn't available and someone could phone me back sometime in the next 24 hours After another "discussion" he puts the phone down on me.

I phone back and tell the guy I won't tell him who I am and want to speak to a supervisor, a few minutes later I get the "not available supervisor".

He tells me that I have to make another appointment and I tell him I can't, as I haven't got any holiday left and he says "can't you leave work when we phone you" No I tell him, stale mate

Then he tells me that he will get an engineer out to me, despite the original muppet in the call centre telling me none is available. Result

So shouting does get results.

Well done. It is annoying but sometimes it is the only way to get thinsgs done

thats ridiculous if its a gas cooker then surely it would make sense to train and certify all the gas'engineers' to all the relevant ACOPS then its one visit and happy customers.

The barstewards have justed phoned again to say they have picked up a job with no engineer code against it. More raised voices and I tell them to stick it. Because there is no engineer he won't be coming out, I have no idea who I spoke to an hour and 10mins ago, he could have been a cleaner for all I know.

Nope told them to stuff it.

When I suggested to the first guy I was going to cancel my contract he said "OK then I'll transfer you"

Blimey they must have more customers than they know what to do with.

Have to agree. BG administrators are a total waste of space. When we had our extension done last year, the biggest hassle by far was getting our gas meter relocated.

I have to stress though, it was the admin side that was crap, the lads who came out and did the work were really nice guys, who worked flippin' hard all day to lay new pipes/relocate the meter.
