HSBC are ...

Gonna get it and they're gonna get it good ...

Last night a couple of after work beers with Spawn One turned into an almighty sesh (as they do). All was fine and dandy as we piled into the black cab around 11pm en route home via the cash machine.

I left Spawn One in the taxi whilst I went to the cash point. No matter how much I tried to take out the computer said no. It was patronising enough to show me my account had sufficient funds in but wouldn't give me a penny.

I then had to go back to remove Spawn from the taxi that we could no longer afford to take home. The driver was none too pleased to find out that I couldn't pay the £5 incurred fare so far.

So now we are stranded in the city centre. Spawn has no access to cash and a couple of phone calls to friends tell me that everyone has been on the slew and are not fit to drive. (note to self, get a teetotal driving friend) I know now that I could have taken a taxi to their house but a JD infused brain is not a clear thinking brain.

Luckily Spawn One remembers that a friend of ours manages a city centre bar so we traipsed across the city and our problem was solved.

This morning I am woken at the ungodly hour of 9am with the hangover from hell by HSBC wanting to do a security check. They wanted me to get out of bed to tell them things they already know i.e. my home phone number, yes the one they were calling me on! and other such account trivia before they would discuss the antics of last night. They had put a block on my card as a security measure because of the unusual activity on the card. The unusual activity was me trying to get money out for the taxi. They then went through the last 10 transactions on my account asking me to verify each on before they would lift the block and give me access to my own money.

This is the last in a long line of abuse I have had from this joke of a bank. The letter has been typed and re-typed many times over the last few months, most of the swear words are gone but it might be time to put them back in.

HSBC - The world's local bank for local people.

Don't start me on HSBC - I have had so many run ins with them I have closed my account, and our business one is next .

To all my friends that have listened to my off boards rants - I publicly apologise

Go to Alliance and Leicester (I hate them but.....) they offer the best interest in credit and 0% interest on overdrafts for a year.

they stopped your account because you were trying to get money out late at night?

pretty lucky you weren't a couple of ladies trying to get home late at night.

Just dont try to use the card (Visa) in Cuba, they are now Americanised through MBNA so you wont get a penny out of any cash machines. This happened to my work colleague last week and he was effectively stranded with no money at all. His son had to wire him some over, the best bit though is you have to pay for an exit visa or they wont let you out, er how???

Matt

ps apparently Tesco are MBNA too.

I remember sharing a few rants with you Sue, HSBC let me down 3 major times this years....taking money out accidentally and not returning it for months, cancelling standing orders without consultation and not transferring the deposit for my house.

If only I could be arsed to move.

Have you noticed they take their charges out of your account when the balance is at it's lowest?

I'm certain it's a deliberate attempt to push your account into the red and hence generate more revenue for the robbing, thievin, gippo of a bank.

HSBC Are SHOCKING. Am in the process of closing my business account with them. They stink and should be forced to rot in hell forever. Hmph. Now I feel better
