Bloody hell What is the world coming to

Just heard the news on radio 2 and I must admit it's got my back up so rant coming, cover your ears!!

News is reporting that North Yorkshire Police are threatening to take action against people who are queueing up to buy fish and chips from a Whitby chippy. They are threatening those who queue with £50 for obstructing the highway!

WTF... have they nothing better to do
They are one of the most complained about forces in the county (39 of 43) with nearly 350 complaints per 1000 officers.

Do they really think this is what the public in N. Yorks think scarce resources should be directed towards. I bet the troops on the ground a really chuffed that senior officers are directing they waste their time on this whilst they struggle to keep up with the mountains of paperwork and bureacracy. makes my bloody bllod boil.....

I think radio 2 would make anyone want to lie down and why have the local constabulary not got their own canteen in 2006.

On a bright note at least your local chippie would serve something worth queing for!!

I believe they call it an 'Old Boys Nap' not a lie down at our age.

yep I heard it as well <devils advocate mode on>TBH at times it crazy as in all of the pavement taken up by folk queuing, and reluctant to move in case they lose their place, people have to walk on the road for around 50 or 60m at times, also you can't get into any shops without a struggle.<devils advocate mode off>

There must be a better way to sort it though, and they are worth the wait

I accept that it can be a real PITA if pavements etc are being blocked and people cant get inot other shops, but surely there must be a better way to resolve the issue than the police wasting time issueing fines!!

And besides its all rubber neckers down on the pier road so its not as though they are going anywhere in rush, except possibly the odd fisherman trying to escape with his illegally landed catch and nearly all traffic is banned down there now as well.

Instead of queing for days on end go to Fusco's instead, behind Boyes, the chips are loads better.

Maybe the police would be better off doing something about the smackheads that where used as one of the excuses for the toilets being closed down in Church Street and while we are at it how about whitby governs inself instead of being run from self serving Scarborough. Oh i could get on a role.......

Same with the uni halls I lived in for two years in south ken. Rich, old, female, and incredibly well connected nimbys.

One of them reckoned she could hear us playing pool up on the 8th floor from her mews house. No windows open, ours were reinforced glass, hers double glazing and window to window was about 60m. Now either she was telling porkies or I can claim I lived next to supergran for two years.
