Great job!

We are doing a good job over in Iraq hand have been since the start. Hovever this sort of headline does us no favors and helps all of the negative view of all HM Forces out there.

We are very seriously under supported both equipment and manpower and over managed by people in MOD who have never been in the forces, but look at everything as a figure, Where can we save some money/can we get it cheap/who can we cut.

I dont think any of us really want to be doing Iraq/Afgan but untill things change at the top we have to do his royal highness mr Blair's bidding.

sorry stressfull day at work
feel calmer now

May or may not be true, I couldn't possibly say, however reading about their methods doesn't exactly give a lot of confidence:

"Dr Gilbert Burnham of the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Heath, based in Baltimore, defended the method used for the report, given the dangers of conducting thorough research in strife-torn Iraq. "

Which basically said, its too dangerous to do proper surveys, so we did it sat safely in the US with very little data to base it on.

Just like Yugoslavia, they needed a prize murdering Cnut at the top of the Sh*t pile just to keep them from each others throats. Now its a free for all, with our guys in the middle for target practice.

What was that line about the road to hell being paved with?

On the issue of the quality of the research. This study is about to be published in the Lancet. That doesn't mean that it's been on reproach, but neither can it bit dismissed as fanciful. Regardless, does the actual figure matter that much when we're talking about this magnitude of death, would 500 000 be OK, or 250 000?

Does anyone seriously believe that life is better in Iraq under British/US occupation than before? At least there's some hope for the future I suppose.
