| BBC NEWS | UK | 'Payments' for prison cold turkey Obviously full details of each individual have not and can not be disclosed, but by the information that has been given, what now constitutes as not breaching human rights. Will people now be raising cases because they feel it is a breach to their human rights because they are in an 8 by 10 cell for killing, raping, setting fire to, defrauding etc? What about the human rights to all of the people’s lives that those criminals have been affected, destroyed or taken away? What are your views on this matter? Is this going to open up a nasty can of worms?

| I'm sorry if it isn't PC, but I am afraid I agree with you on this. If individuals feel that they need to commit crimes against others such as these then they give up their rights to be treated in a civilised manner. I am sure that if these criminals were asked they would agree that the treatment is deserving of the crimes they have commited. It's usually some middle class numpty, who is so far removed from reality, who champions this kind of fight. If you have been following the "gangs" docu with the big fella from Eastenders in, the criminals in the south african jail have taken over the responsibilites fro dishing out justice. Seeing how these people traet each other would be a bloody good advert to not commit crimes. Reset, Rant mode "off" |

| This just seems to me yet another story stirred up and spun around by the media, so some prisoners were receiving methadone treatment before they entered prison and then the prison refused to give them their medicine? Of course the prisoners have a case, the laws there to protect scumbag smackheads as well the ordinary man in the street. |

Personally, I think that once you're convicted of something and banged up, all bets are off. No rights, no nothing - people seem to forget that first and foremost (or at least as far as I'm concerned) Prison is about PUNISHMENT. Rehab, (in the odd instance where it actually works) is great, but surely that's secondary?

People like you and I who are law-abiding and who pay into the system have less rights than those who offend or don’t pay into the system (I could say more, but have to stop myself)

I reckon that I'm in for the standard £50/week job seeker's allowance. It's a pity that I don't have, 'Playing the system' and 'spnging off the sate' on my CV, as if I had experience of those, then you caould all sleep safer in your beds knowing that I'd not become the crap criminal that I'd probably make. So for me, it's straight into another job so that I can get back to my true vocation in life which is suporting spongers, something I've done for the past 25 years. r P |

| This is another fine example of our society in Great Britain today............ You can go out, take part in a major crime, get banged up, 3 meals a day, colour TV in the cell, ............and now free drugs as its apparently a breach of their human rights if you are a druggie!! Well, F**k me pink, what will it be next ? Now tell me, whats in it for the normal law abiding folk in this country that reinforces socially acceptable behaviour of the majority ?? F**k all, thats what. I despair, I really do. Any crime and no real punishment.

| Sean - it seems that every idiot in society has rights, even the fuckers that kill wives and rape kids. Im disgusted in the way things are going. Surely there must be some reality somewhere, somewhere where the normal person can be heard.
