I used to live with a parking attendant and he was instructed not to ticket police vehicles.

The reasoning was that the driver would be personally liable for the ticket and potentially get into grief with superiors - if this happened they would be less inclined to rush to respond to a 'parking attendant in trouble call'

I would just print off a load of flyers explaining that they are a nuisance, and that if it persists that you will be contacting the Telegraph. That should give them a laugh over their burgers at lunchtime.

In all seriousness, just take some photos and send them to the local paper. It will have the desired effect.

Either that or become a clamping subcontractor for the council and make yourself some money.

Digs.

Juz, this is totally correct. Driver is liable, not the firm. They would also get done for a discipline offence

Is Snow Hill the station just by Old Bailey and Holborn viaduct? There's always loads of police cars parked outside the bays around there never with a ticket.

Can't imagine there's a warden brave enough to ticket them though - I suspect the first one to try would be 'randomly' targeted for stop and search until he said sorry and promised never to do it again!

Oooh how about a congestion zone van. I often see one of those on single yellows. Often parked outside my office all day.

We had one of our cars clamped outside a store in a retail park when the officers were collecting a shoplifter. It was a private firm employed by the retail park.

The divisional commander had an interesting conversation with the manager of the park, which boiled down to - either the clampers were sacked or no police would respond to any events at that particular retail park.

I understand that a new firm took over enforcement fairly quickly!

It's funny how the thought of a cop car getting ticketed or even the bobby getting into bother gets everyone so excited, i love the police threads on the site it seems to get more replies then the diving ones, funny wonder why?

As the man said, 40%+ of an officers working life is spent pushing a pen and most stations have less parking than vehicles

so you have a choice
insist they park in the local multi storey they'll have to pay the parking charges, or to be exact you will cos it will just increase the cost of running the force so you'll pay more tax. And when you want them they'll have a 15 minute walk to the car then a 10 minute drive to the job, all the while the burlars are helping themselves to your hi-fi
or
leave them where they are

i know what my vote is

the police vehicles park at Snow hill because they have a canteen there which we all use for breakfast. The Met, BTP and City use the canteen, and double yellows outside is the only place where we can park to get hot yum yums. In all fairness though, my shift only went there on a Sunday early turn, and the City is all but closed. Midweek we were told not to eat there because of the double yellow issue.

Now the Met on the other hand...........
