DISCLAIMER
The benefits of a decent education.

Chris, sorry to hear about this, sadly its part of UK driving these days. I am assuming you have fully comp insurance?? Be careful, some companies regard paying out for a total loss (as you said yours might be) the limit of their obligation under the policy, which in short means they pay out market value, less excess and then declare the policy terminated, which if you have just renewed it could be worth a fair few pounds.

Tesco insure my son (through me, very little NCB), he's 19 and the premiums arent that bad for 1.6i Fiesta.

Best wishes
Matt

Be warned that if you take this route that the insurers will take the documents (if it is a write off and they have to pay out) and you will need to get a new MOT ....... and maybe re registered as the vehicle owner ............
I have had two cars written off, honest, both Saabs, in both cases i was told i could keep the car. No hassle, one of the cars i gave to my pal, for spares, the other i kept on the road with an MOT and all other legal documents for about two years after the crash.

If i was you i would report the crash to the cops, but as it was on private property i dont think the RTA is involved, but just to keep you in the clear. I would then pop round to a small local body rebuilder, you may be suprised at the cost of fixing it.

In any case good luck.

Get yourself down Trents and get a new bonnet, headlight and front grill, the rest looks like it will pull out.

If necessary go to your local bodyshop and offer cash to get bits resprayed, (try Bodycare in Wimborne, I used to work next to them and they are a good bunch and have done me a favour or two in the past)

i feel for you on this! being a very poor student very much in love with my car i live in fear of some idiot hurting it..

so much so that when i heard 'funny noises' @ 3am last week,i got out of bed glanced out my window at the street and saw what i thought was 4 chavs standing round my car with th door open,

promptly marched out in my pink pj's shouting the odds, only to realise they were standing round the identical car that was parked behind mine, which was in fact theirs!

realise its off topic, but thought my embarrassment may bring a smile to someones face - it certainly did to my housemates when they were woke up by the comotion!

Good luck with it!

Alex

<scumbag mode>

I've had a few drinks and reversed into some blokes car in the car park. I can't stop or leave a note as he may call the police and I'll get done for DUI.
I'll wait until tomorrow and report it to the police when I am sober. That way if someone saw me I have am OK.

As a man who has crashed more than his share of cars I can say your damage may look bad at first sight but it can always be repaired. You will be surprised how quickly a body shop can have it in pieces and put back together with new bits.

Report it to the police for the scumbag reason above. The police may be waiting for your report to put the victim in contact with the cause.
