I read in an in-flight magazine (so it must be true) that more than 80% of Landrovers built are still running. My new car (German Diesel) just did 52mpg between Hull and London. Maybe you need to spend a bit more!

Cheeky bugger

The Dodge was new 5 years ago.

Ok the Jag is 1996 but only done 70k miles.

Lucky I haven't got a Daewoo like my friend. He has a 2002 Matiz with the 3 cylinder 850cc engine. The cooling pipe has rusted through as has most of the cooling system. The car is no longer made so parts would have to come from Korea. With 30k KM on the clock the car is scrap!

In defence of Discos, I had one, did 140k in 2 years of trouble free motoring, it was a V8 auto with aircon, leather trim etc and was truly at it's best off road, it went anywhere and on standard road tyres could out climb out perform every other 4x4 on the shoot, we had Landy 110s & 90s, we had shoguns, Jeeps and toyota pickups but the only one that never got stuck was mine. Great car, just crap load space for such a big beast. 2 spaniels and a lab in the back plus four fair sized blokes and it was full.

Actually that's right.....I didn't fight in two world wars.....

But back to the saga.....

The Dodge is now back and running fine. £400 into the dealer bank but could have been worse.

The Jag dealer broke a stud trying to remove the heads. The stud is out now but the heads won't come off! They have been WD40ing it for a few days and they move an inch or so.

More drain on my bank ballance expected......
