Bloody hell Ron , we don't want to train them in unarmed combat.

Safer than leaping out into the road, I reckon!
I would imagine that some do have those but not to sure if all cars would carry them and also if it would be of any use stopping 3 cars as Dan reported.
I am sure there will be a police officer along shortly who could answer this question far better then I.

Kirstie when I read 'spiky things' for some reason a picture of stilettos heels came to mind!

Sorry to hear that Nige. I've been attacked before and was happy to fight back until he reached in his pocket for whatever. Did I run or what!

It could have been worse if they had stuck you for it mate!

Nigel, you are a star. Glad it turned out ok though - you do need to know the time to give in gracefully, whilst also knowing the time to stand up and not make it easy for scrotes to get their way.

One to the good guys.

It's not so much passing the responsibility to others, as to letting those who are supposed to be dealing with it, deal with it. You really don't want to take the law into your own hands.

I beleive they could have safely done something. But then again you're right they shouldn't put themselves at risk. They are trained to deal with situations, it's their judgement. I think they were wrong in this occasion, but that is only my opinion.

Anyway, sorry for the thread hijack. I have a negative view of the police, but that is only based on my experience with them. I have a negative view of motorists, but that is only based on being a cyclist.

Back to Nigel's mugging

I'm relieved your able to post about it and aren't in hospital somewhere, as many such things end up.

So... Even our muggers are bad at mugging.
I weep for this generation.
Nigel,

Sorry to hear about ................. glad you are not too badly .................... well done for toughing them out.

It's easy to say "I'd not let the bastards get away with it" but not easy to do, in my experience.

Hope the police catch them or, even better, they get a damned good kicking from someone else .................... maybe you'll be in luck and they'll try to mug Jackie Chan .............. or, even, Chris Eubank who is almost your neighbour?

Try to remember mugging and violence have been around since mankind has existed (probably) ............... even before cartoons .................. so try not to get too despondent about this incident or generation ............. is it really getting worse or are we just hearing about it more?
