What are the youth of today coming too?

I was mugged last night.

It was probably the nice shiny new Nokia box hanging from my arm as my upgrade came through yesterday but I was walking home from work along the Seafront towards Kemptown in Brighton when suddenly I am set upon by three louts who first grab my box (full of accessories but no N95) and then demand the phone and, naturally, the wallet. I get pushed about, kicked in the nuts and generally manhandled but when I consistently refuse to hand over anything they ran off.

So I still have my phone and my wallet although I discovered that I didn't find the disk and manuals when I picked up the scattered bits but I got them from nokia.co.uk last night so I'm a bit tender in places and was out 'till 9pm doing the usual police things but am otherwise intact.

They were big, tough, prepared to have a go and still three of them couldn't perform a simple 'robbery with violence' on a 57 year old Grandfather with a heart condition. Ok having two guys hold your arms while the third kicks you wasn't fun but after kidney stones it really wasn't too bad.

So... Even our muggers are bad at mugging.
I weep for this generation.

Oh my Lord! How absolutely horrific for you Nigel. I'm so sorry to hear this. Don't know what else to say. I despair of the inhumanity in this world.

Hope you feel better soon.

Look on the brighter side , at least they didn't stab you. After M/cycle racing a simple mugging must be a doddle .

Good to see they didnt get your sense of humour either
Sadly its a reflection of the times, did you use your new phone to photograph them for Police evidence
If my kids (well they wouldnt) even thought about doing that I'd castrate them, which wouldnt be that easy as one of them is a girl.

Chin up, at least you didnt get knifed.

nice to see you come out the other side with your humour (and nuts) intact. Well done Nigel, sorry it had to happen to you but I guess it could have been a lot worse

Bastards,Bastards and Double Bastards. I hope they catch them but then again they are probably misunderstood and had deprived childhoods so we should maybe take pity on them and do something other than send the scumbags to Prison.

Nigel,

Not nice, hope you are feeling better soon. Make sure you report it to the police, they probably won't be able to do anything but there is a chance that CCTV or similar will have been around and the little scroats can get what is coming to them.

And not even able to mug you, what is the education system coming to, it's a disgrace ;-)

Danny

Like the police are going to do anything. The kids know they'll get away with it. You'd probably be breaking some law by photographing them anyway.

What goes around, comes around. They'll get their comeuppance.

(oh, I witnessed 2 police officers watch 3 people commit a crime and do *NOTHING* about it last week)

Glad to see you're OK Nigel, and as others have said, at least you still have your sense of humour intact

Don't hold out much hope for the Police catching the 5h!ts though

Awwww Nigel
I am sorry to hear that shite news but glad you wasnt too badly hurt. I so to despair, not just of the youth but what the hell went wrong with the parenting.

Many years ago my son was mugged by 2 thugs all for the sake of his wallet and his walkman. They almost cut his finger off attempting to get his ring but that was when my son fought back and they ran off. He said afterwards " I couldnt let them take the ring as you bought it for me mum" I was horrified he would risk his life for that. It took him many months to get over it once the adrenalin had gone and his sleep was badly affected.

I suppose we should be greatful that no greater force was used.
Stay safe xx
