| It is because of the new sizing rules. The post office have to check what size your letter is before they will let you have a stamp. Although the main office counter will sell you a book of stamps without looking at envelopes, so it just shows what a stupid idea it is. As as aside, can you buy books of large letter stamps ? I haven't seen any around yet.

| While we're having a go! I'm waiting for 7 parcels at the moment, from ebay, Deep Blue Dive, photobox, MIL ect. Now some of these I know were posted 1st class 3 weeks ago. I was giving the Post Office the benefit of the doubt that they have been delayed because of the strikes. But when nothing turned up this morning I gave them a call. Now I spoke to a very helpful lady, called Mandy and this is what she told me. Me: could you tell me when the backlog from the strike will be cleared? Mandy: What area are you in? Me: Watford Mandy: Ah Me: What do you mean ah? Mandy: There is a problem at Watford. Me: What's that then? Mandy: Well the staff there are refusing to clear the backlog unless there are given overtime to do it. Me: I'm sorry could you say that again because I thought you just said, "the staff there are refusing to clear the backlog unless there are given overtime to do it." Mandy: Yes that right. Me: So let me get this straight, the staff went on strike for 3 days and caused a backlog of mail and now they what to be paid extra to clear it. Mandy: Yes. Me: Thanks; I'm now going to kill the first postman I see. (I didn't really say this but thats how I feel). I know what would happen to me if I didn’t turn up for work and then wanted to be paid extra for catching up. I'd be down the road. The sooner the Royal Mail is privatised the better. These work-shy lay-abouts need to get with the real world Rant over
