You cant drop a trident there as it will take out the barras and thats the best live music venue in glasgow. However i do know what you mean and it seems to be getting worse with neds that cant actually speak properly even for up here!!!! My solution would involve groups of vans roaming the area full of like minded citizens and if they cant prove they are in full time employment, education or are simply unable to communicate without scratching their arses, grunting and unable to maintain eye contact then round them up and either let them colonize one of the northern islands with maybe a food drop once a fortnight, or even better give em to iraq or afghanistan.

| Come on - you cant blame them, why work when they got nice people like you and me providing for them... We really are lovely people, willing to give up our time to go to work to pay our tax... I think that is commendable, keeps the world alive it seem... LOL B x

| Did you know 1/3 of Glasgow's male population of working age ie 18-65 claims benefit? They are either out of work, choose not to work, or are on 'disability'. There are very few actually 'disabled', if that is not the pc phrase I apologise, whom I have met who would rather not work. And yes, you can drop a trident on the Barras as it is being turned into flats in a few years. |

| I dont think its just the male population

| Probably all `Gers supporters anyway Seriously though, a lot of this stems back generations. Without wishing to cause offence to anyone, this way of thinking was ingrained by the ruling class over the years. Keep them poor and uneducated and there will be no trouble. As a result people who were subjected to this form of suppression believed they were supposed to be like this and passed it down though generations with the addendum that if you acted as expected you would get scraps from the top table. It`s only in the last 30-40 years here that working class families see University as the natural progression for their kids. Our primary uni, Trinity College Dublin allowed Catholics into its august halls in 1975, so although there were a couple of other unis available, third level was regarded as a mainstay of the old Protestant ruling class. This suited the RC as one of the only routes to third level was the priesthood. When you tell people long enough that they are worthless, they tend to act as such and believe it is so. Wow, my head hurts now Last edited by dublinbay : 24-08-07 at 06:09 PM. |

| This thread is like "put a penny in the machine and watch her go". After spending 15 years rehabilitating the long term "sick" back to work, I left defeated. It was a losing battle. You get more on long term disability payment than you do working on minimum wage. No incentive. Bonkers. Add to this blue badges, free parking, free most things, and you are quids in. Did anyone see that programme the other night with Ann Widdecombee? She was trying to get a father of 17 children living with 2 girlfriends in a council house back to work. Their joint income was £37,000 per annum. He did not want to work. Surprise surprise. He just wanted to breed, watch telly and go to the pub. They had wide screen TV, trampoline, sports car, minibus /people carrier, video games consul, things that most of us can't afford. There is an "entitlement" culture. Some people have very little work ethic or morals. And very little self respect. Funnily enough, I have 2 friends who are severely physicaly disabled. One is a paraplegic, the other is totally blind. Both work full time. They can't understand those with a bit of back pain not working. For what it's worth, I speak as someone whose back was, at one point, so bad, that I was told to retire on ill health, I would never work again. I have never had a day off sick with it. At some point, the govenrment will realise that they have slipped up somewhere. I can spot a lead swinger (plumbus kineticus) a mile off. Sometimes I feel quite sad to be British. What a state this country is in. I think I have got all that off my chest now.
