Angry What hope is there for the rest of us when the Police can't be arsed?

I don't often winge and moan so I thought I'd have a go and see if I like it.

Summer 2006.

I was out walking the dog and caught two young chavs damaging some property at the Weymouth & Portland Sailing Academy (the location for the 2012 Olympic Sailing events).

I phoned Dorset Police, detained the offenders and waited.

And waited.......

and waited......

Eventually from my vantage point I saw a Police Officer leave the Portland Police Office about 3/4 of a mile away and drive in the opposite direction from my location.

I eventually got bored of waiting and sent the two scrotes on their way.

To this day I've never been contacted by Dorset Police to make a statement. From sources within the organisation I later learned that the officer detailed to attend simply radioed back to the control room "area searched no trace".

Some time passed and I decided that the lack of Police attendance was unaceptable and I attempted to make a complaint against the Police for neglect of duty.

I went through the proper procedure of speaking to an Inspector and explained the situation. He told me that there was nothing he could do unless I could tell him exactly when the incident occurred. Unable to do this, I asked if he could search the incident log using my name as a complainant and track down the incident that way. He told me this was impossible and Dorset Police do not have that facility.

My sources from within informed me that such a search was possible (surprise surprise).

The Inspector concerned told me that the only thing he was able to do was ask the local Beat Officer to come and have a chat with me.
This has yet to happen and it's now been a while.

To conclude;
There is now a letter on it's way to the Chief Constable of Dorset Police.

If you're the officer that was assigned the original incident or if your an Inspector with Dorset Police and the above rings a bell. Might I suggest that you start to get your excuses ready because I'm coming for ya!

Note to Divers coming to Dorset; Bring some form of protection and your own private security company with you because there is no Police cover in this county.

Thanks for listening and letting me bore you with such trivial matters. Have a nice day!

Victor Meldrew

Well, we have had a few Meldrews on here complaining of the lack of apparent Police interest in what could be described as a minor crime. Me included I suppose. To say it ruffled a feather or two might be a bit of an understatement.

I do hope Mark Davies doesnt find this one.

Like Mark, I am frequently seen defending the police on most threads, but in this case, I can only say (and on your word):

Dorset Police have badly let you down, and their failing should be reflected in their efforts to make good. As they are not making good, I can only say they are not doing themselves any favours. Bunch of layabouts!!

Not very good at all!

I was away in Somerset earlier this year visting parent's who'd moved down there. Whilst near to Street, my wife and I noticed a sus vehicle with a front seat passenger with what looked like a hand held tazer. Driver got in and vehicle left three up. Phoned police, gave index and expected not very much. Driving away myslef, we saw about four police cars heading that way and within 20 minutes I had a message left on my mobile (no signal) from the control room and then a further phone call from them (second attempt to contact when I did have a signal). They found the occupants, nicked them and gave a full update.

Top job! Well done Avon and Somerset.

Only involvement I have had with the police in the recent past was when Mrs B got mugged. Nothing very serious, jumped out of some woods next to the footpath, pushed her around and nicked her handbag. I phoned 999 expecting no response as they had run into the woods.

Within 5 minutes I had a couple of WPC's there to talk to Mrs B and another 3 squad cars en route. A mate and I went and helped them search the woods and were promised a couple of minutes with the culprit if they found hime first. After about 45 minutes of searching it was decided by all that the little Sh1t had got away.

Mrs B and I were contacted by victim support within a couple of days and though we didn't need the assistance it was nice to have it offered.

Sometimes they do get it right.

Danny

You should come and live in merseyside the police here a great you know exactly where to find them in the chippy or mcdonalds. if something happens like your drill is stolen chase them around the corner to be threatened by 8 lads one with a machete they will respond 4 hours later (about 4 weeks after and in the same area as the Anthony Walker murder) When the same scrote gets a kicking a few weeks later they will call at your house and ask you where you where at time of his kicking I suspect if you answered jumping merrily on his arms until they broke you would be nicked and prosecuted to the full extent this is just one example of the shite merseyside police have now become the lads themselves are just marking time until they find something better because the brass have them so down trodden (their words) but still we have loads of community support officers who are about as much use and have the same powers as a floppy cock

Buster,

I cant tell you how dissapointed I am to hear this story. I've been with Dorset Police for 23 years and can tell you that most of us pride ourselves on the quality of service we provide. We do have one of the highest 'customer satisfaction' ratings in the country.

You may not be aware of this but we are the 3rd best performing force in the country by any measure and being by some distance the worst funded force in the country we work miracles with the resources we have.

Of course any organisation has its share of lazy gits and on this occassion you appear to have been badly let down. I can assure you though that if you have written to the chief someone can stand by. He does not and will not tolerate poor service

If you PM me your full name and the phone number you phoned in from I will check on the command and control system tomorrow and find out who was involved and report it to professional standards myself.

Most of us work our asses off and do a good job, I hate to see the force and all the hardworking staff in it let down by some idle git!

Alan
