Many men are plain embarrassing. Most guys are proud of how they look (fit-wise) when they are 20 but then resort to sitting behind a desk, eating as many pies as they can, and drinking too much ale. Don't delude yourself that a couple of hours each week at the gym will fix it. 35 years ago, when I was young, I had a friend who was a runner-up in the MrUniverse competition. I voiced the opinion that if he didn't keep at it, all that surplus muscle would turn to fat. He said I was stupid. I met him at the airport the other day. I was shocked when saw my friends face in the middle of a very fat head mounted on a very fat body. It's all about life-style... and mirrors!

muscle doesn't turn to fat it just turns into untoned muscle.


and yes I am a porker but my wife loves me as do my kids, I am trying to get back to how I was 10 years ago but not doing the physically demanding job I did do has its effects. I could go to the Gym or the pool every night but wouldn't see my kids.

fat happy and trying and getting to see kids or getting there quicker and not seeing my kids. simple choice really

Yes, I should have said that all that muscle will be replaced by fat.

Fat and happy is OK if that is what you like - but keep the same rules for women too.

I've said it before, many women are attracted to a lot of fat on a man but only in a specific place...

Seriously though, what we find attractive is largely due to cultural conditioning.

Look around the world, foot-binding in China, neck-rings in Africa, lip plates in South America, body fat in the South Pacific are all culturally-driven indicators of attractiveness.

And those cultural factors can change over time. Look at Marilyn Monroe and her contemporaries, the ‘sex-goddesses’ of their era, and they wouldn’t even get a job as curtain-puller at a fashion show today - too ‘fat’.

There’s a level of ‘fatness’ or ‘thinness’ that’s ideal for any individual in terms of long-term health but that doesn’t necessarily correlate to the level of ‘fatness’ or ‘thinness’ that our culture has determined to be attractive at the time.
