It's not right, but what else can I or any member of the public do. We certainly can't change the fact that you do not have enough man power to cover the violent assault reported above, so personal action is all that is left - is it not?

But what is being reported is not a lack of action - just a lack of action right now. This assault only happened a few hours ago. For all we know these two offenders could be in custody and charged by sunrise, so don't start jumping to conclusions and condemning the cops at the drop of a hat.

From the news/papers/here, I sense that the general public are becoming fed up with the very poor service we recieve from the police (the only time i ever see a policeman/woman is in a traffic car - can't remember the last time i saw any on foot). I don't think it will be long before the tables are turned on anti social louts. It would not suprise me if one of these scumbags is killed by a member of the public soon, and i bet the full weight of the law/courts comes down on them, and they get punished far worse than a scroat comitting a similar crime.

That's already happened. Who's that farmer bloke who managed to kill one of the two scroats who decided to break in to his house?

Heh. Just overheard one of my immediate neighbours today that someone has some sort of vendetta against her. Apparently she'll get her windows put through! Nice.

I was in an incident a few years ago and thought I should let the police know in case a) charges were brought against me and b) the guy did it again.

I knew there was nothing they could do but they did say I should have just got stuck in, esp since it was in self-defence.

Anyway I got good service in that incident. When I was broken into they were fab, caught one of the perpetrators and he did time.

On the other hand when I deal with the firearms section; they are just a PITA, although I know other guys in different areas who seem fab.

I agree, and as I stated, i am not admonishing individuals within the service, it IS the system I have a problem with.

Never the less, even if they are in custody by sunrise, that's still several hours on the street during which they could hurt someone else.

Yes, in an ideal world it would be of some value to get the offenders arrested sooner rather than later to recover forensic evidence, but you know who they are and where they are so at a push they can be arrested and dealt with later. It's not an ideal world and so in all liklihood on a Saturday evening all the available bobbies were running around like blue-arsed-flies doing things that simply couldn't wait. We have to prioritise - and of course everybody's problem is important to them and they always think they are a priority - but you've no way of knowing what else might have been going on this evening. As serious as the assult on your neighbour sounds I can think of many much worse things that might have been going on elsewhere and demanding police attention first.

You're never going to take my word for anything, but for the most part we are trying to do our best with what little we've got and despite all the hurdles placed in our way. A lot of the time it's not good enough - but the blame isn't all ours.

yes lots of things have priority , lunch . golf . sitting in a m8 s house having a cupa and the like all needinng and demanding police attention / time .

Mark i know we cross swords from time to time they just got back and the poor sod looks like he has been apunching bag for tyson.

As for the police the station is closed!!! and thayhave now said come back in the morning, even though the little tw4ts that did this have been back mouthing off to his brother !!

It's just not good enough and on the drive back there are two officers stood on the quay next to a police van I'm not pointing the finger at the poor sod doing the job but the piss poor system we have
