I'm constantly astonished by the ignorance of some posters. The CPS is there to decide if there's a case to answer and if there's a good chance of securing a prosecution. What's this got to do with PC?

This is my second draft. The first was quite rude and you might have taken offence.

NEWS UPDATE

The two young lads have been sent to Barbados for a fortnights counseling and the police have agreed to pay out £200,000 in damages to them for stress caused by the unnecessary over reaction to what the judge agreed was a boyish prank by the little whipper snappers.

On investigation the old lady was found to have not paid her council tax. The judge threw out her claim to have been distraught since her husbands death and find her £2000 and ordered her to pay this and the council tax within two weeks.

The lady was unable to pay and has been evicted. Se was later arrested for non payment and contempt of court and sentenced to 6 months in prison.

It is understood that the bulk of the estate will go toward settling out of court with the two boys who burgled her house as the judge has concluded that by leaving her toilet window open she actually encouraged the boys to enter her property thereby being ultimately responsible for their unfortunate downward spiral into a life of crime.

Todays live broadcast of this case on the Jerry Springer show has been canceled due to the breaking news the lady has hung herself.

You should read Private Eye - they have the "Police Log" from "Neasden Central Police Station" which is usually a good read!

It's a shame that the lady's house that was broken into may need help from people like Jay and the police to feel safe in her own house again

I am not for one minute saying that it was not a great team effort and the police deserve i massive pat on the back for the response, as does jay for having the guts to go over and check the house in the first place. my coments where meant to reflect the problem in the final conviction of these offenders.

Which has nothing to do with political correctness and the CPS. It's down to lawyers. Or are you now confusing "conviction" and "sentencing"?

so you are saying that in your greater wisdom that the cps are not under pressure from the p.c brigade to do the right thing, it is a fact that there are instances where the cps will not procede with the case on the grounds that it is not policiticaly correct to do so. i am sorry if you disagree.

you should have gone with your first draft if you felt that being rude was needed, i was trying make a point, and did not think i asked for a abusive reply. oh well such is life. please feel free to rip me to bits and rant as much as you want if it makes you day better

Came home today at 1pm and just as I sat down in my office my next door neighbour's alarm went off. The phone rang within 30 secs from her alarm company to say they had an intruder alert next door and would I meet the police who were on their way (I'm a key holder). I went across, took a quick look around and couldn't see anything. Police dog handler arrives within 4 minutes. We again skirt round and as we are coming back, my window cleaner comes rushing over to say 2 lads have jumped over the fence and are having it away across the field. The policeman gets on the radio and within 5 minutes, there are 6 patrol cars in the area AND the West Yorkshire helicopter circling overhead. Within 10 minutes the scrotes have been apprehended and are in custody - the helicopter has practically their entire movements on tape.

30 mins later, SOCO arrive and gather a load of fingerprint / fibre evidence from the entry point and ransacked drawers. Three hours later the police are back with a WPC to counsel my distraught neighbour as well as calling round to see me again to see if I could make an identity parade they were setting up.

So, for one breaking and entry we had:

1 dog handler
6 patrol cars
1 helicoper
Soco
ID parade
WPC counselling
Appointed locksmith

Who says the police do nothing? A top result and a total credit to the force.

Great response....... top marks......

Just a shame that its not common place across the UK....
