ebay seller - blooming cheek!

Flicking through the BCD section on ebay I notice a picture I recognise very well. It's of the size small Seaquest Diva LX I advertised here and sold on ebay in 2006. No problem, eh? Except I sold it to a different buyer than the person selling it, and the current one for sale is listed as a medium.

They state it has been used once abroad - mine was used more than that. They have used all three of the photos I took and they make reference to their item being "Exact as the picture but blue clip replaced". Er, that'll be the blue clip I added as a modification on my size small BCD, will it? Modifications which I pointed out on my original ebay listing.

So basically the item they are flogging cannot possibly be the one in the pictures shown, which leaves you wondering what condition the real item is in.

Blooming cheek! I've reported them to ebay. Shame on them for misleading buyers!

Helen, perhaps they are selling a BC just like yours and to save taking piccys etc they just pinched yours......

But they are misleading people - they are claiming the model in the photos is theirs by saying they've replaced the clip. It can't be. I added that clip to my small Diva - this is a medium. I just think it's wrong. I have no objection to people using photos that look like their item and stating so, but I object when they claim that it is their item.

I agree with you Helen. I had some lazy a******e nick my pics for his ebay listing. Ebay weren't interested.

In the end I chalked it down to experience. Now I post using photobucket and then delete the image as soon as it is sold. I think if they try to copy it they just get the link....if they use the link then when you delete it they get a big X!

It's not so much the fact that they have copied the pics, but that they claim their item is the one in the pictures. How many of us have been a little disappointed (or a LOT disappointed) to receive goods that weren't quite as shown or described? Ebay is great, I love it, but there's always the potential to be ripped off.

It could also be that they don't have a bc for sale and its just a scam, there's a lot of this going on with boats at the moment.

I had it happen once selling a plasma TV for a mate, somone contacted me and said that the pics were the same on another advert. I contacted the other seller, he aplogised, balance was restored.

I've had a response from ebay and it appears my original listing doesn't show the photos any more, so I'm not sure they'll do anything. The seller has obviosuly copied the pics from here or the BSAC forum. I don't mind this, but to insinuate their jacket is the one in the pictures in wrong.

I've contacted the seller to tell them I think their listing is misleading, so I'll wait to see if they say anything.

I applaud your altruistic thoughts but in the overall scheme of things it's little more than a "bit of a cheek" afaiac.

The buyer knows what a seaquest diva looks like I presume, and will probably receive an item that looks quite a lot like the pic ..... does it really matter that much?

In the grand scale of things no, but I do hope the seller gets what they are expecting. I'm sure we've all been a little disappointed in the past (except the person who bought mine of course - they got exactly what they saw in the pictures ).
